In the news today, Walter McCarty has signed on with the LA Clippers and Brandon Hunter has signed up to be a Buck.
Did Walter McCarty really want this? He asks Ainge to trade him because he didn't want to be lost in the youth movement, gets a couple of months living the high life with the Suns, and now has to play for the perennially downtrodden Clippers. He's a super nice guy, which makes it tough for me to see him this way. As much as I ragged on him while he was in Boston, he deserves much better than this.
As for Hunter, I'm just waiting for him to find the right team who will appreciate his basketball skills and use him in an effective way. I still think highly of this kid and hopes he has a chance to really show his game.

Yea Walter really is on the downside now but, Livingston is a piece they could build around as long as they don't let him go like past clippers have. I don't get why the clips would bring in Mobley but not re-sign Simmons. Maybe for proven playoff veteran reasons same as to why they dealt for Cassell. Hunter hopefully can shine. He should get more pt with the bucks seeing Fizer could be fizzled out or waived.

He's a super nice guy that makes a boat-load of cash playing a game for a living. I don't feel bad for any pro athlete, about where they play or how few minutes they play. Walter will be fine.

Walter should be fine. I mean at least he has a side music career going on. It would make total sense for him to retire early due to continuing that.

I always like Walter. Hes the perfect 11th man on a good team. He plays good D, plays with intensity, can get hot from downtown. It wasn't his fault that we werent a good team and he was the only excuse we had for a PF. I wish him the best.

It's not that Walter wanted to play for a contender specifically. He just wanted to play for a team were he would get more minutes.

Ya know, Walter might be the kind of player that sticks in the league for 16 - 18 years. As was said, he's a solid 11th man on a good team.

Yea hes good as an 11th man. As a starter, forget it though. No wonder our team underachieved in 03-04 with him there.

Raef Jefferson Pierce Allen Delonte ---------------- Perkins Scalabrine Gomes Ricky Dickau ------------- Blount Reed Banks Green Greene
This is the way I see the players being used. The players in bold are the guys I'd place 11th - 15th on our roster.
Would McCarty be a better player than any of those guys in bold (once they are deveoped, of course)?

Its a tough call if McCarty could be better than any of them really.

Derren, good visual. When I see the Celtics roster, 11-15, all these players (even Blount) have development w/ them. McCarty, we know we are going to get a hard working vet, can shoot the 3,etc, but he has reached his ceiling. McCarty would only be interferring w/ the development movement.

Yeah, I see things clearer if they are presented visually. Looking at that, I'd have trouble keeping McCarty on the team because I feel that the players from 11 - 15 have a real solid chance to be more productive players than him (maybe not Blount ;D ).
