Derren, I think Bynum makes the club, and is sent to the NDBL. I can't fathom why Danny would sign him to a contract (is it guaranteed) if he didn't have plans for him.

You know, I've been contemplating that myself, RR. I mean, there seems to be an interest in him. His numbers weren't impressive at all in the summer league games. And despite that, Ainge gave him a contract. But his track record at GTech is very good, and his level of intensity is very high. He's a gamer who doesn't play for numbers. He's out there to make things happen.
If he had Banks' athleticism and long limbs, I'd say he'd be a sure thing. I think he plays with more focus than Banks and with a lot more intensity. But Banks has the advantage of being much more athletic and his long arms allow him to be a pest on defense. As many of you know, I'm not a big fan of Marcus Banks. Nothing personal--its just that I don't think he'll be a consistent starter. But as a backup PG, and even more as a 3rd string PG, I think he can be a heck of a player. With more development, he can be one of the better backups in the league (strictly in terms of scoring--not as a passing PG). If Ainge keeps Banks, Doc needs to use Banks strictly as a guy to get him quick points and not as a guy to rack up the assists.
Under most situations, I'd favor Bynum more. But because I think that Banks can serve a niche, he may be the one to stay.
But there's still training camp to sort this problem out. Bynum has every opportunity to try and blow Banks away in competition.
Plus too, there's the talk from a month ago that Ainge was looking to move Banks--so its never a guarantee that he'll stay.

do you see then bynum as anything more as third string pg. not a chance. i support banks for exactly the reason that he is what he is - a bobby jackson like second-stringer - and he has definitely that athletic advantage over bynum. nothing against bynum i just see no roster spot for him barring a trade

Reassigning players to different teams? Don't know if I like the sound of that. This whole developemental league was rushed without much prior planning. It's going to be a bumpy road. Hope it'll smooth out rather quickly. Its a good idea--but too much holes at this time.
