I think heres 1 reason.
HIs expiring contract next year. That will attract much more value even if Pierce hasn't gotten any better. Many teams will want him seeing his contract expires for a team who might want to re-sign back for cheap money plus go after a top free agent that year. and Danny will make a jump on that and possibly get 1 more pick plus a few more solid players with a few more yrs left on their contracts like a PJ Brown or a newly signed Chris Anderson or maybe even Magliore. Who the hell knows. But if he is waiting for that, then that is surely something to wait for. Id wait until his contract had 1 more year on it also before moving him if I was danny.

If Ainge is really looking to move Pierce (which I'm not too sure about these days), there are a few reasons why he hasn't done it yet.
1) he's giving Pierce a final chance to try his best to fit into the puzzle.
2) there hasn't been a trade proposal worthy enough to pull the trigger
3) he's waiting until '07 to move him so that he can have a shot at Greg Oden
4) he thinks Pierce is going to remain a Celtic for years to come

We dont need to move pierce. He's our best players. If we dont have him were certainly looking at the lottery. Ainge isnt going to trade pierce without recieving blockbuster compensation. I believe pierce wil eventually get on board with the program.

I believe pierce wil eventually get on board with the program. I hope so... I see the past that might say different. We all grow with time (I hope I do). Maybe he just needed more time and another look at the scenery?

Boston is a big media city, so every player is under the microscope. P2 really hasn't given Ainge any real reason to trade him. Besides, I think Danny trades him only if P2 doesn't want to sign for a reasonable amount w/ the Celtics, or the deal is too hard to refuse.

But- P2 has had a tough time with the leadership role, as in on court actions and posture.

Yea, he has to be the worst 21, 5 and 5 player in the league. He just doesn't ever seem to get it. I see a decline this season along with the year after that. But don't get me wrong, I would want to keep him if he bought totaly into the new system and runs uptempo like Doc and Danny want plus tone down the attitude. That may be a dream but if it happens. theres a way it can work with Pierce, Green and Tony Allen. If Pierce is staying for the long run due to a change of heart and attitude, Ricky may be the one going here. Although Pierce, Ricky and Green sounds more complete with Allen gone IF Tony were not to get better. I think the outcome will be Pierce being dealt though.

IMO Ainge will only trade Pierce for a very high price. There have been rumors I've read about the Clippers and the Nuggets showing interest, but talks did not progress because the asking price was too high for those teams. Given how Pierce is coming off his most efficient year statistically, it will take a lot to pry Pierce away from Boston.

Pierce is definitely not the "worst" 21, 5, and 5 guy in the league. We just see him all the time and the mistakes he makes. Other teams around the league think much more highly of him, I am sure. I am not exactly sure of Michael Redd's averages, but they are probably pretty close to 21, 5, and 5 and he is definitely not the player Pierce is.

The funny thing is 1 guy I talked to who said I am not a good talent evaluator told me that he wouldn't even deal Pierce for Andre Miller meaning Pierce isn't even worth him. Pierce is worth Nene alone I think. This same guy also didn't think he was worth Chris Anderson, Jacobsen and a 1st round pick lol. It was too funny.

That kind of mentality is on par with people that say stuff like "Shaq sucks. He's just big. If i was that big, Id be awesome too." Sure you would. I see nothing appatizing about this trade. Miller is overpaid and almost thirty, and Nene is not exactly Buck Williams on the boards, and thats where we need the most help. Scoring is the one thing we can do. Thats not a priority. Plus, Nene's contract will be up soon, and he will demand big bucks, and he doesnt seem like he'd be worth it.
