In all that time Boston was under the fleet center name, some of their worst seasons ever took place. Now that it is TD Banknorth Garden, will things finally go well? This is an opinion question I would like to hear more about. I feel its possible that the Fleet Center name is a curse. The celtics worst record ever at 15-67 was in the Fleet. Yet, they almost reached the finals but came short. If they ever come this cose again, I think a championship will be won. But, does it have to do with the name? I think its better that its titled "Garden" again.

The only curse w/ the Fleet Center was Pitino, and the folks he brought in. W/ Danny, we are on our merry way. ;D

Yea. Pitino played the favorite card big time. Walker was already there and that sorta brought him to Boston. He drafted Mercer then continued getting KY players by getting Walter and then Delk.

We will have more success in TD Banknorth Garden than we did under the name Fleet Center. But not because of the name.
We'll have more success under the name TD Banknorth Garden because this is a new era of Celtics basketball and we have a lot of better players on the team.
I look forward to seeing the men in Green playing in the "Garden" again.

Yes, this is a brand new era heading into TD Banknorth. No Walker ever again. If Pierce stays on the celtics under that arena name, it won't be for long. Its mainly gonna be the arena name of the new era celtics.

Poor talent during the early years of the Fleetcenter was why we have struggled. That was a direct result from the poor support from a cheap owner more interested in lining his own pockets than supporting the Celtics Tradition. As a consequence further managerial blunders, which we are still paying for to this day, have led to a loss of leaguewide credibility and local fan support. The only love the Celtics get seems to be from the internet messageboards frequented by the diehards from teams of twenty, thirty, and forty years ago.

Yep, Q is right on the mark. The Fleet was built in the mid 90's, soon after the Bird era ended (early 90's). Like all successful sports franchises, we tasted victory and won championships--but it was time to go to the back of the line and experience losing (like most things, it goes in cycles--just ask the Bulls and the Cowboys).
But the ship is starting to right itself and we can see land just over the horizon. It won't be long for us to be a successful franchise again.
