I can't really say either that having Payton around the whole year was a bad thing. I think he did have a good influence on the young guys for the most part, and surprisingly he enjoyed playing here in Boston with all of his teammates. I think he really wanted to come back.
Obviously Ainge is moving in another direction with the youth movement, and looking toward the future. Payton wasn't the future. He was more of the past, but I think it helped the young guys a little him being here and all. Although, I guess there are some things that we don't know, and it is starting to come out that he wasn't good for the chemistry and he wasn't good for the young guys so I don't know how much of that is true.
Nevertheless, he is gone, and Dickau is in, along with Delonte, and Greene and Bynum, and possibly still Marcus.
I agree thought that Dickau will do a better job of pushing the tempo than Payton did, and West will be fine as well.

Dickau should be a better option than GP was. I think he will be the starting pg the whole year. Maybe Dannys plan isnt to start West for 1 more yr and once he does, Banks will be gone or something. The pg future looks to revolve around Dickau and West right now.

Dickau is the short-term solution, however not the long -term solution.

Hes still young though. Anyone young like Dickau leads me to believe that he will at least be here for the next 3 years but maybe he just won't be starting all those years. Who knows.

Was it good for the young guys or could have someone else not have played team ball?
Attitude...?

Well, since Delonte was hurt so much during last season, it was good that Payton was here. Overall, I think it was better that Payton was a Celtic last year, because he showed his veteran presence on the court.
But its time to move on without Payton. The younger players fit in better in the uptempo style because they will run and push the tempo more than Payton did, and they can shoot the ball better than Payton can (Delonte and Dickau, that is).

i think that payton gave our youngsters a lot of small but helpful advices about life on and off the basketball court

Gary I highly doubt is a bad guy. I mean he has kids of his own and has a charity organization. He was a good influence coming from his mind in the locker room giving advice to the kids. Just not so much on the court.

I admit there is a lot of truth in this article about Banks celticsrant.blogspot.com/I am geting down about Banks. The guy improved but everybody treats him like he got worse and ignore his natural talents. Perception is becoming reality. At the very least I hope they keep looking for a pg and keep trying to make it competitive
