i got to watch the royals spring training game last night for the first time this year. The more I think about this trade the more I hate it. My initial reaction was I hated it. Then I let the royals fans talk me into liking it. Ervin Santana and Guthrie are mediocre pitchers at best. We traded Wil Myers and a player to be excited about. Oh to be a royals fan. Just seems like more of the same.

At least they don't have to worry about finishing last in the AL Central. I'm pretty sure the Twins have that wrapped up.

Its amazing what a really good GM and manager can do for a franchise. After having 14 straight losing seasons, last year my O's finished with a 93 - 69 record, winning the wild card, and nearly beating the Yankees in the postseason.
Dan Duquette came in, and immediately started remodeling the organization, yanking bad and useless people out, and putting in good and effective personnel. His offseason player acquisitions weren't sexy, and lots of people thought were mediocre (Jason Hammels is a prime example), but the players he's brought in proved to be what we need.
And Buck Showalter has been awesome.
Now, the minor league system is geared to develop players like it should, we got good scouts in sout america, and the Orioles are ready to take the AL East.
Things are finally looking up for us O's fans!!

they've been showing all the royals spring training games on the mlb channel this year. That texas loss might have b een an anomaly. EVery other game they've looked fantastic. Dayton Moore gave up a lot for Shields and Davis but they also got elliott johnson in the deal. The Royals should be strong this year. They appear to be playing for now. Moustakis, Gordon, Butler, Hosmer, Perez, Cain, escobar are very strong position players. Chris Getz looks really good this year as well and they appear to have nice utility players in falu and elliott johnson. Their bullpen is loaded and may be the best in baseball. A lot of guys who aren't evne going ot make the roster look stellar. Shields and Davis are qualtiy starters. I just wonder how good guthrie and santana are going to be. I feel better about guthrie. Their rotation is better but still has some holes. They still have some young arms and position players in their organization.
I watch the red sox in comparison and for the first time in the last 20 years the royals look a lot better to me.
