And when the young guys start developing and producing more points and upping their averages in most areas, Pierce will no longer be needed. He was desperately needed in the 03-04 season or on the ECF team but with this up and coming team, I have doubts that he will be needed. Pretty soon, his need value to our team will be like the need value Walker had with us which would be a deal for lesser talent (but not that Danny will trade Pierce for little like he did Walker) but I think he will get more for Pierce. Some bad team will always want a 21ppg, 5apg and 5rpg scorer so therefore they may give up more.

Our pgs have improved with experience and depth (adding Green, Bynum, and maybe Dickau) and have lost a slow wheel. Our wings have improved with experience and depth (adding GG and Gomes, not to mention Scala played sf last year in Jersey), our centers have improved with Perk getting older and Raef being another year removed from a knee injury. The only position which is debatable is pf where you have to hope AL J getting older and Scala and a little bit of Gomes can make up for any losses of AW. I think Aw brought some positives and some negatives. I admit for one more year maybe AW is a "better" pf than AL J (maybe) but after that AL J should be better for the next 10. AW was only the 2nd best player on the team anyway if you think of him that way and the team wasn't dieing horribly without him. Not to mention his arrival pushed Blount to the bench a lot, and I don't think he'll be playing much this year. So part of AW was negating a negative anyway, which should be negated anyway this year. Overall I think we have a good chance of doing better this year so I'm not sure where these 20-30 win scenarios come from especially in light of weakness in the rest of the division. A team with Ricky Davis, PP, and any other 10 NBA players alone could probably get 15 wins

This is what you have to look at too. Getting Walker back was a positive because it sent Blonut to the far bench and thats where he still stands due to it. His fire rubbed off on players also. But that only needed the amount of time it took with Walker there. After the playoffs, I wanted him gone for sure. Now its finally a reality.
