As far as I'm concerned, I want the future starting 2 and 3 to be Tony Allen and Gerald Green. I am convinced that Tony Allen is a fantastic player who can create plays out of nothing--even if the play isn't called for him. I just watched the rookie game again and Tony does things out of instincts and aggressiveness that only the better players seem to be able to do. He's got more than enough quickness, more than enough elusiveness, more than enough know how to get his points. And he'll only get better as he starts gaining more confidence in himself. As for Green, its still more of a hunch. My opinion may change or be reinforced, depending on how I feel about him after seeing him play against NBA competition. But the potential I see in him is very high. I think his chances are very good that he'll become a very good player--even a star. as of right now i agree with you. once pp is getting older, is traded or whatever - allen and green could be our wing starters

I just want to see TA keeping his head in games. I like the thought of Green at the 2. With his height and jumping ability, his outside shot will pretty much be uncontested. I would like to see TA in the 6th man role, for a spark off the bench, or 7th man if RD is still around. Reed and/or Gomes will be taking up minutes at the 3 IMO.

So you really think that Reed/Gomes will be a major part of this team, eh? I just don't see it out of our two 2nd rnders. I am by no means saying they won't be part of the team, but starters...well, that may just be wishful thinking...Gomes certainly has more potential than Reed.

Yeah, the way I see it, Gomes has more potential than Reed (put that down, C17!!!). He's naturally got more feel for the game it seems. I think Reed is a bit limited in his game, but he does seem to have more defense running through his blood. While Gomes may turn out to be a valuable bench player, I think Reed's overall value will be as a defensive specialist. And if he's moved off the team, Gomes will be the one to blame.

Where do you get this? Is it a gut thing or knowledge? ;D

Both. From what I've seen of Gomes at Providence (which is only a few games admittedly) and what I've seen of Justin Reed last year (again, which is only a few games), Gomes seems to have that feel for the game that naturally allows him to make the right plays. I'm almost certain that Gomes is going to turn out to be the better offensive player. Defensively, Reed has the upperhand because he moves his feet better. Rebounding might be real close. But all things being equal, Gomes' natural feel for the game will come up big in tight situations and he may be the type of player who seems to always be at the right place.
But I know you are really pulling for Justin Reed, and I don't mean to make him sound like a reject. I actually think Reed has the makings of being a really solid contributor. I'm pulling for him too, but I just like Gomes' chances better.

I know where you're coming from DM. We bleed green.
I like the way JR took last season. Playing hard when on the court in games and busting a nut in practice. Justin has one year of NBA-life under his belt...

In the rookie game, Allen was at his best I've seen him at. That was a flash of whats to come I think. And yes, I surely hope GG and Allen make up the 2 and 3 positions in the future. This young team of 1-2 year guys is just so exciting to watch.

Damn right. I know I may have downed Allen at times but I do see the good in what he can bring too. i just saw many inconsistant shooting nights from him this past year but then again, he was a rookie. He did look really well in that playoff game without Antoine on the road in a blowout win in Conseco Fieldhouse.
