Another note on Joe Barry Carroll -- G.S. Warrior fans dubbed him with the nickname "Joe Barely Cares" because he was not exactly know to play inspired basketball. His rep was just wanting to score points and being luke-warm towards reboudning and defense. Passing wasn't his forte either.
Parish or McHale alone would have made that trade worth it. Both made it a steal. This was excellent scouting by Red, as Parish was known as an underachiever in Golden State, but Auerbach saw film of him and was convinced he could play. A hall of fame career later says Red was right as usual.

Man, I hope he doesnt have much Brian Wilson in him. The next thing you'll know he'll be sitting naked on a picture of Red Auerbach and listening into a crab shell for devine draft inspiration. In a way, he does look like Brian Wilson. That was a funny line up top. The one word that came to mind when I see Danny Ainges face though is Tortellini. Maybe his face just looks like a tortellini to me. Another note on Joe Barry Carroll -- G.S. Like how not many people see whats in Perkins but it will be revealed eventually like when Red was here how nobody saw Parish as a near hall of famer at all before. Danny is the 21st century Red Auerbach after all. It would be something if he stayed here almost as long too. Ainge may have got a 3 year extention but I see him staying longer. Larry Brown can't top Red Auerbach nor can Phil Jackson. Larry is a great teacher of the game but he can't evaluate talent worth of sh|t.

For a comparison, the young Bulls showed some fight last year, despite having one of the youngest lineups in the league. I can't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure that they were playing like a playoff team early on, but started to flutter in the second half. They had Curry, Chandler, Deng (a rookie), Nocioni (another rookie), and Hinrich (was in his second year) as their starting 5, and Ben Gordon (yet another rookie) as their leading 6th man. Had Deng not gone down with an injury, they may have had a chance to make the playoffs.
I think we are in a similar situation. We have a lot of young talent, but they have a lot of potential in their games. Its not wise to promise a 45 win season, but I won't count that possibility out.

Actually, Darrell Griffin was the number 2 choice. McHale was the #3.

Only time will tell if this young squad mature quick enough.

No they weren't. But a lot of them should have been. Jefferson and Green should have been lottery picks.

No they weren't. But a lot of them should have been. Jefferson and Green should have been lottery picks. At the time though, Jefferson was not anywhere near considered to be a top 10 pick. Maybe a 13. Green though, we all know that story. Chicago also had college guys who were ready too that got them that winning season in Deng, Hinrich, Duhon, Nocionni. Nocionni now was a defensive irritator. Our team needs one of them. Perkins and Jefferson both remind me of Chandler and Curry when they first came into the league. They were top 5 picks but the team still lost. HS'ers take a little bit.
