Given Houston's apparent interest in Walker, and Weatherspoon's expiring $6,353,200 contract, would it be worth it to sign and trade Walker for Weatherspoon and a draft pick? We could recoup what we gave up for Walker and avoid a long term commitment to a player who IMO will be behind the depth chart to Jefferson in a couple of years. With the new CBA, we could sign Walker for up to $7,941,500 and the trade would work out.
Or we could trade for Weatherspoon, the pick and Mike James (and sign Walker between $7,322,400 and $9,000,000 (doubt Houston would agree to any more) and we would get a pick back plus a half-way decent veteran PG with only 2 years left on his contract.

if we do any kind of s&T with walker blount should be packaged along. otherwise there's no point to bring on new salaries. i think walker and blount for some expiring contracts and picks would be ok. but looking at houstons roster nobody except sura is somebody i would like to get

I remember Weatherspoon being a solid scorer and rebounder back with Philly in the mid 90's. I liked his game back then.
He's not a starting caliber PF, but that could be a blessing for us to get Jefferson more playing time.

Philly, for a stretch, had like 5 first-team All-Rookies, including Weatherspoon back in the 1990's.

We almost signed Weatherspoon, like 8 YEARS AGO! and I wasn't sure about it then. I swear some people think of Antoine as a MUCH crappier player than he really is. Seriously, what the hell would we do with Scalabrine and Weatherspoon on the same team- throw in Dickau and Antonio Davis just for kicks, and we are looking more like an expansion team than the 3rd seed in last years playoffs!
