16 mil per for 5 years
I rather have pierce than paying a 30 year old SG who can only shoot and nothing else.

Just read on the internet that we have offered Dickau a contract. He's apparently Ainge's top priority. ?? where did you read this?

talk about FA's: has anybody seen Brandon Hunter play last season with Orlando? We don't have a roster spot available off course, but if we would, would you sign him for minimum salary? Is he worth another shot or is he just too limited as a player?

I'm all for bringing Hunter back. But we have to consider why Ainge traded him in the first place. There must have been something about him, or his game, which Ainge didn't care for because he protected McCarty and Chucky Atkins in the expansion draft instead of Hunter.

Perhaps Danny figured if we put Huntah in the mix, Charlotte would bite, and not take anymore of our players. Though, not protecting him, and protecting Walmart, that was cold.

Yeah, that was a wasted move. I'd have given anything to keep Hunter ahead of McCarty. We need muscle, rebounding, and toughness a lot more than we needed a tall body who couldn't really do anything on the court.

I wonder if it was more about Hunter's abillity (or lack of) to run the court. Or him just being at the right place at the wrong time.

I posted my thoughts on this before, but I'll reiterate for those who didn't read what I said. I think Ainge felt that Hunter had a thuggish attitude that could have been harmful in the lockerroom. That's the impression I was getting as I watched Hunter play. He had a lot of ability, but his character seemed to be like that of a thug. We want tough minded players, but he was more bullyish than tough.
I think that's the reason why the Bobcats also released him. I mean, the guy has a lot of skills. He's one of the strongest players in the league and he's a rebounding force because he's explosive going after the ball, and he's as strong as an ox. And for a young team like the Bobcats who need young and talented players on their roster to just cut him tells me that Hunter's problem has something to do with him as a person.

Perk is ten times the thug Hunter was, if you remember Perk knocking several people out this year. On that note, I am glad we don't have Hunter, although I would prolly rather have him instead of Scalabrine.
As for a FA we should go after, Swift is an extremely athletic, talented (albeit incosistent) young player who has shown what he can do in spurts. If we sign Dickau, this whole offseason will go in the toilet, except for the draft- where we got lucky anyway! Banks is clearly more useful on this team than Dickau. I might venture to say that I am a better pg than he is.

There's a difference between Perks' and my perceived character traits that Hunter exudes. Perkins is a good lockerroom fella. I don't think Hunter was one. I think he was a thug-like person even in the lockerroom, possibly not even having much friends on the team. I don't know. Maybe they even feared him inside and didn't bother getting too close to him.
Perk on the other hand is all about having good chemistry with his teammates. He took Al Jefferson under his wing when they first met. He's the type of guy who's loyal to his teammates.

I personally like Perk, I just think it isn't quite fair to question Hunters character, when we really have no idea why he was left unprotected in the first place. Perk was just an example of someone we have now who clearly has been more "thuglike" than Hunter.

Thug-like on the court, yes. And like I said earlier, that was a good attitude for Hunter to show on the court. But IMO, he may not have suited well with us, and eventually with the Bobcats because his thug like character carried over into the lockerroom. That's the only explanation I feel is legit because the guy is a terrificly gifted athlete and player.
