I sure would be interested in landing this guy. I'd like to see DA sign a guy like Davis and then show Antione the door. DD would be a nice role model for the youngns with his hustle and grit, and he can still hit the glass for about 20-25 minutes a night. I'd prefer P.J. Brown, but I dont think he's a FA this year.
Thought?

thought? ---> is he still playing?
Davis might be a nice addition, only if he signs for the vet minimum & we can't find a better veteran. I don't think that there's much left in his tank. Could be a good role model for Big Al & Perk.

He didn't look too good guarding Jefferson in the playoff series against us. I don't think his game is worthy enough to bring him to Boston.

I think any vet we bring in should be brought in almost entirely for leadership. A grizzled nononsense type who worked his but off in this league. For the minimum. I always kinda liked Dale Davis. i'd like Vlade Divac but he would never come and I think is signed somewhere.

In that sense, yes, we should look at Dale Davis. But we still need a vet to show Jefferson and Perkins the ropes on the court, especially inside the paint. The coaching staff can only teach so much. Its the guys who are actually in the trenches and still producing who can really give Perk and Jeff some tips and pointers, and show by example how it works.

I see what you mean Derren but I think palying time teaches more. I think Delonte and Banks learned more when GP was gone than when he was around.

I think Ainge will sign 2 guys to replace Toine and Payton:
A vet point guard on a one-year deal - I liked Watson a lot, but he isn't a true "vet" and he would take time away from West, Banks, Greene (if he makes team)
maybe a travis best would fit here. He's been rumored to come here for a long time. maybe next year. I would have him be a backup only though.
To replace Toine, a vet big man - 4/5
I think Ainge wants to bring in the type of players that will maybe start, but more likely come off the bench, have experience, can teach the youngens, but also be at that point in their career where they don't have to start or necessarily play big minutes every night. This would allow the kids to grow into their roles as they are obviously the future.
Possibly a travis best, and maybe either brian grant/dale davis.

Dale Davis is not the answer for the Celtics. They should sign the european pg and Rahim and keep Pierce.

Hey there, Greeny. Thanks for becoming a member? Are you a frequent visitor, or are you new to this site?
I think Travis Best could be a real possibility if Ainge misses out on Jasikevicius. Travis Best was being recruited by Ainge when he first came to Boston in the summer of'03. But strangely, Ainge didn't want to wait for a reply from Best and his agent, and he quickly signed Mike James instead. I'm not sure good Ainge thinks Earl Watson is.

Dale Davis is not the answer for the Celtics. They should sign the european pg and Rahim and keep Pierce. Of course he's not the answer for the Celtics. Were not gonna find the answer for the Celtics in FA. But he would be a great role model for the C's. Id rather have a broken down PF(Davis) that can teach the kids the right way than a PF in his prime(Walker) that never has done things the right way. And where exactly are we gonna get the $$$ to sign abdur-Rahim? And even if we did, all SAR would do is create a logjam at PF once AlJeff reaches maturity. A pail pirece SAR led squad would lead to the Celtics being a one-and-done play-off team for the next 5 years. Sounds like the kind of line-up we should avoid.

Oh, I'm hearing Portland might waive Theo Ratliff even though hes under their contract. Maybe this new cba allows them to rid old contracts. I hear Dallas might waive Michael Finley also. Any takers?
