This almost seems like blasphemy, but do you guys think that Reggie is over-rated by other C's fans? A while back I got into an aruement over Reggie Lewis versus Reggie Miller. The other guy was saying that they weren't even comparable. I said they were very comparable players. Lewis was a little more well rounded, Miller was an insanely clutch player. I was def the only guy on the board that thought like that. One guy said that their wasnt a shooting guard during that time, besides Jordan, that theyd rather have. I said what about Clyde Drexler, and most wouldve rather had Lewis. Whats your guys take on this?

I personally think Lewis could have and was actually on the path to lead our team into another title.
If you review the tape of the 1992 Playoffs vs Charlotte Reggie played most of the 1st qtr. Then he collapsed and came back to play some of the 2nd qtr and already had 17 pts on 64% FG in 13 minutes!!!
Miller did have that crazy clutch game vs NY where he score 9 pts in like a minute, but he was always just that. He never was the one to show up like that for every game.
To be perfectly honest, they are very similar on paper. I think Lewis was just getting started
Miller=Clutch 3pt shooter
Lewis=Team leader and excellent jumper/driving skills
Of course, if you make me choose who I;d have on my team. My bias as a C's fan would make me choose Lewis!

Hard to compare their value. Reggie Lewis' atleticism and slashing ability made him tough to stop. But Reggie Miller had the dead eye shooting and the flare for the dramatic. Who would I rather have? I rather have Reggie Lewis. I may be biased in saying that he was on his way to stardom. But if I were to look at it from an outside perspective, I think Reggie Lewis could have been a real solid player who would make the All-Star team as a reservist every year.

Yeah, Reggie Lewis had an incredible first step. He was very "springy". His legs were explosively fast. And the way he glided over the court, hunched over while dribbling the ball, was fun to watch. He was certainly an awkward athlete to watch because he was so darn athletic, yet, he looked clumsy in action.

Only 2 SG's from that era that I'd consider better than #35 would be Jordan and Drexler. Lewis was a better all around player than Miller, but I don't think you could go wrong with Miller as your SG either. I'd just prefer Lewis.

I agree. Lewis was incredible! One of the last games I saw Reggie play was vs NJ in 92 I think. He was matched against Drazen Petrovic. As it turns out, that would be the last game they would even play against each other, Drazen died in a car accident and then Reggie died after the playoffs during a scrimmage at Brandeis.

What a wing combination we would have had with Len Bias and Reggie Lewis. Wow, if only things could have worked as planned.
You know, aside from Jordan, Pippen, Drexler and Reggie Miller, there seemed to have been a void of high caliber wing players in the 90's. Sure Chris Mullins was good, but not great. The NBA had guys like John Starks, Sean Elliot, Dan Majrle, etc., as the best SG's in the league, but they weren't that good.
Now it seems like the NBA is filled with too many high caliber wing players.

Mitch Richmond was dang good. Dominique was still aweome until he came to Boston. But I totally see what you're saying. And on the flip side of that, the league was full of good centers throughout the early-mid 90s.

don't forget young latrell sprewell. He had some monster games in GS. Isiah Rider before he went totally nuts was a dang fine player in Minny too.

Isiah was pretty good, but he was far too inconsistent/didnt give a crap in his Minny days. Unfortunately for me, those awful early/mid 90s TWolve teams were the only ones i got to watch on a regular basis.

I was a fan of Rider's coming into the league. I caught a UNLV vs Georgetown game the year he was drafted. with 10 mins or so left in the 2nd half, it was Georgetown 42, Rider 38! when he was drafted by the lowely Wolves, he said "I wanna stay here and be the reason the Timberwolves become a good team" That made me admire him. It all went south, in what his 2nd or 3rd year though..

It's hard not to pick a HOFer who broke all sorts of records over Lewis. He's sorta like legend like Len B now cause we'll just never know

I think Lewis was just getting real good when he died. He could have been our leader and All-Star for 10 more years. Who knows were he could have taken us. Same goes for Len. Who knows?
Ya just hate to see someone pass at such a young age. I feel for their families.
