I was thinking about this the other day and it's hard to say. I am fine if someone wants to move this to off topic but I thought this was a good place. In order from worst to least worst here I try
1 Len Bias
2 Reggie
3 Larry's back problems
4 Tony Allen's snapped ACL
5 PP getting stabbed like 33 times in the face.
6 AL J, Gomes, West, Bassy, Gerald, and Theo being traded from a championship team to teams like the Wolves and Sonics. Maybe this doesn't make sense but last June must have been really hard for them. At least West ended up in Cleveland. I felt bad for them
7 Montross being poked in the eye badly
8 Vin Baker's demons catching up with him for the 2nd time in his life
9 Toine seeing his career wasting away at the hands of a self absorbed coach who was the most horrid GM in the history of the team (Well maybe not as bad as ML Carr give or take)
10 Billlups being given about 30 games to develop before Pittino shipped him out

Lottery balls not falling our way in 97 and 07.
Chronic injuries robbing McHale and Bird of productive seasons at the end of their careers.
Idiotic ownership almost causing Red to leave in the late 70s.

Don't forget talent expert, Chris Wallace, thinking Kedrick Brown was going to be the better player, leading him to trade Joe Johnson. Can you believe we had 2 lottery picks that draft (plus a mid 20's pick we used on Forte). We could have had Richard Jefferson, Tony Parket, Gilbert Arenas, etc..
Or what about using a lottery pick to take Jerome Moison? Yuck.
Makes me appreciate Danny Ainge so much more.

Getting back to that draft, if we had patience, we couldve waited a year and had Denver's #3 pick in 2003. We couldve had either Carmelo, Wade, or Bosh. Now that wouldve been something.

All in all, we were a terrible team for so many years because of poor drafts, terrible trades, an owner who refused to fork out money, and a countless number of other things.
Again, I'm very thankful that Danny is now in charge. Every Celtics fan should appreciate him.

Yeah. At the very least on his worse day he's a decent drafter who doesn't do terribly stupid things. His dumbest things (maybe giving Scal so much money for so long) would make Pittino look like a genious by comparison.

The worst thing was the death of len bias that was a disastrous era for the celtics.
