Last summer we took a huge risk to trade away a lot of talented youth for veterans that have had a lot of individual success. We thought that putting those players on this team would motivate the whole team to achieve everything they were capable of. It definitely led to regular season success.
The knock on some of the great players on this team has been that they can't win in the playoffs. Their critics are either right or wrong. And it's on them. We don't win in the playoffs on the back of Rondo or Perk or Powe. Those guys come to play. They could play better than they ever have and if a few other vets don't show up then we lose no matter what.
Right now there are a bunch of 22 year olds on the Hawks with really only one vet and they are beating the hell out of the vets on this team. They're punching you in the mouth and you're not punching back.
Paul, KG, Ray. We're losing right now because of you. You're playing like a bunch of pampered stars that thought people would hand you a trophy. Right now you're not showing effort or desire. You are shaming the Celtics and shaming yourselves.
Tomorrow's starting lineup is Powe, Perk, Rondo, Posey, and TA. Cassell will be the first guy off the bench. The Little Three won't get in until we're down by 5.
Paul, Ray. If you get outhustled for even a second by a 22 year old tomorrow nite, if you get punched in the mouth and don't respond with positive PLAY, if you get ejected for any reason, if you get a technical and we aren't up by 30 points with three minutes to go, if you flex for the camera while we don't have a demanding lead, and if YOU GET BEAT, we will trade you this summer. We'll trade you for 70 cents on the dollar but make no mistake, we will trade you.
This entire series has been an embarrassing disaster. Every team gets faced with a challenge. This one is yours.
Now if I were you I'd visualize how you are going to play like Celtics tomorrow and not like some street punk wannabes.
