On September 13, 2002, Atlanta Hawks guard DerMarr Johnson fell asleep at the wheel and drove his car into a tree on his way home from a night out with two friends. Just over a year later, he is completely healed from the broken neck suffered in the accident and recently signed a free agent make-good contract with the Phoenix Suns.
The following is Johnson’s personal account of the horrifying accident and its painful aftermath, his remarkable recovery and his hopes of returning to the dynamic player he was and still believes he is.

hey there bosloy. thought i'd never hear from you again.
so what do you think about the celtics? i'm sure you've already heard/read about baker and kedrick. but i'm really excited for perkins. i hope he gets regular time in the rotation. but it seems the early favorite for the 5 spot is mark blount. obrien is singing his praise.
eventually, i'd like perkins to make an impact on offense as well as defense. he just needs the time on the court to develop.
we need banks to have a good showing against the bulls. he needs to build his confidence. going up against the 2nd best team in the east last night wasn't the answer. he might be able to do well against jamal crawford. can't wait to hear about the perkins vs. curry matchup.
