They had nothing to lose at all. For short term, that worked very well. Sura and Rebraca suck so if they lose wallace, they wont have those other 2 either so there not gonna be bad off either way. This gives Detroit a huge chance to surpass indy for the #1 record in the east this year. If detroit wins it all due to this or wins the east, wallace will resign with detroit I think. 4 good players in B,Wallace, R, Wallace, Billups, Hamilton is quite better than Jermiane O'Neal, Ron Artest and an old Reggie Miller.

Everybody is saying that Wallace wants to go to NY, but he was saying that while he was in Atlanta, hoping for a trade. Anyway, they have him for at least these playoffs. Dumars for GM of the year again?

detroit definitely improved their team with the acquisition of rasheed wallace. but indiana and new jersey are still the teams to beat.
the powershift is starting to happen. the west is no longer a sure thing to win the championship. the east is beginning to close the gap.

The reason the west isnt a sure thing anymore is because the league just gets watered down every year. In 2005-06, The whole league will be a JV of what it was in 2000 nevermind the so called "leastern conference". The west wont be great. I never heard any mention by anybody that the league is watered down and will get more watered down. I sure think it is compared to yrs back. Anyone else share my opinion?

Indeed, i saw the Wolves against the Spurs yesterday. Good game, Wolves played great but couldn't catch the Spurs. I was thinking why so few games are like this. There's just not enough talent in this league to stack all the teams with such good or smart players. To many teams and not enough good players...

the league is indeed watered down. and inserting a new team into the league is a mistake imo. there are just too many bad teams right now and adding another team will just make more bad teams.
another factor which is causing the league to be weaker is the players jumping from high school to the pros and players in college who aren't ready to make the jump, making the jump to the NBA. this adds a lot more immature players into a league which is already immature compared to the level it was in the 80's and 90's.

Certain teams need to go out of business. Get the !!!GREENIAC!!! thats left that cant get a winning situation for years. Those consist of:
Washington Atlanta LA Clippers Golden State Toronto New Orleans Charlotte shouldnt even come
I say have a draft with all new contracts from 72 or more players on all 6 of those teams that go under. This would strengthen 6 more teams even if its the worst teams that get to pick first like the celtics, magic, bulls, 76ers, or cavs.
This laker team sure cant compete with the laker team of the 80s.
