As if there was any question, we have signed Gerald Green.
Celtics sign first-round pick July 3, 2005 BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Celtics signed first-round draft pick Gerald Green on Sunday.
The Celtics took Green with the 18th overall selection in last week's NBA draft. The 19-year-old Green is expected to play for Boston next week in the Reebok Vegas Summer League.
The 6-foot-8 forward entered the draft out of high school. He averaged 33 points and 12 rebounds during his senior year at Gulf Shores Academy in Houston.
Green was named the Most Valuable Player of the Reebok A-B-C-D All-Star camp last summer. He also led all scorers with 24 points in the most recent McDonald's High School All-American game.
Anyone think he'll get more playing time in his rookie year than Big Al and Tony Allen did in their rookie year (15 mpg)?

Man, is this kid reallt 6'8"? If he is, that's awesome. Doesnt he have long arms? Build wise, he sounds like Scottie Pippen w/ less muscle. Think of the defensive potential this kid has. Green will end up being one of many reasons why the city of Boston should be working on a Danny Ainge statue as we speak.

The NBA w/ the current structure is great w/ contracts. Rarely does any one holdout, like the NFL.
Green, not sure about his minutes. I am thinking more than AJ, but less than TA.

Not quite Scottie Pippen's build. Pippen was longer limbed and more twiggish. Green's body type is like Maggette's and you'll see the muscle definition come out in a few years.
Green could be a good shot blocker. He's quick off the ground and he gets up high. He could be the first Celtic wing player to get more than a 100 blocked shots in a season since Reggie Lewis.

Green has hit his head a few times on the rim. First of all, not many players can even get that high. But Green not only gets that high, but it looks like he can even get to eye level with the rim.
That crazy dunk where he throws his arm through the rim just shows you how high he can dunk. I've watched that one over and over. He gets up so high, that his shoulder gets above the rim.
During that dunk contest, they said that he has a 42" vertical--higher than Lebron's.
