Do you guys think Green may take Allen's place in the starting unit? To get him a guarenteed 15-20 minutes every game right off teh bat? Or do you think he will start out on the bench?

I think that with the drafting of Gomes, Walker as lost his last hope of getting more than the MLE with the Celtics. We have 4 big men, Blount will be used again since that's probably the only chance we'll have of trading him. Gomes & even Reed can play some limited minutes at the 4 if necessary, especially against small lineups.

Green only starts after he earns his stripes. Doc even mentioned that AJ didn't get alot of minutes in the beginning, because he had to earn them.

CF is on the right page. Last year, Tony Allen got the starting nod for a good chunk of the season, even though he was just a rokie and not really sure what he was doing on the court. His defense wasn't the reason why he was in the lineup--it was his slick athleticism and ability to create positive things for us with his athleticism.
Gerald Green is 4 inches taller than Allen and he's got a slight edge over him in athleticism. Plus, his shooting could put him in the lineup if he's able to replicate his accuracy he showed in high school.

I think the staff, including Doc, learned alot last year w/ the rookies, esp AJ. Expect Green to play more than you think.

I do not think Tony Allen is going to be traded. He's a very athletic wing player he is aggressive and can make plays happen on the court. The things he's capable of doing with and without the ball are extraordinary. We've only seen glimpses of what he can do for us.
This is thinking rather optimistically, but Allen just needs experience to understand what to do on the court. The more he plays, the more comfortable he'll be, and the more he'll produce.
I actually fantasize a starting wing tandem of Green and Allen--two of the most athletic and explosive players on the team who like to flush down dunks and slash to the basket when the ball is in the air. They both have active motors that won't quit and near limitless energy. Between these two, we should be able to get like 5 alley oops a night.

the future line up featuring allen, green, jefferson, perkins sound cery promising. who's gonna be the pg is the question. iõm not sold on west just yet. he's decent rotation player, but a starting pg?

That's my concern too. Delonte is a solid backcourt player who can handle the PG duties at times and put the ball in the basket. But is he a full time PG? I didn't get that feeling initially. But he is working hard on his ball handling using both hands and his penetration skills, so he could improve his PG play.
I want a PG who's a playmaker/creator.

Right now, I am thinking Danny is building this team from the wing/front line in. The last piece to this puzzle I think is trading P2 for a point guard that can really run the show.

That's a possibility. I do not think Ainge will trade Pierce away for another wing player. Not since we drated Gerald Green.
Either Pierce is moved for a PG, or a Center. Perkins is a solid piece, but I think we can do better.

Perkins is a solid piece, but I think we can do better. LMAO... Can we see what he can do before dumping him on the bench.

Perkins isn't going anywhere. And I doubt celtics could do better with th centers available in the nbA unless we're talking about EddieCurry who I feel Perkins could able to surpass.
Far as trading Pierce away, we're better off keeping him on the team and allow Green develop either in the NBDL or get some quality time off the bench. Maybe if we're lucky he might crack the starting lineup over Allen and Davis.

I'm not saying we should trade Perkins away. I've felt for some time now that Perkins is better suited as our defensive stalwart and rebounding presence off the bench. If we don't get a better player than Perkins, I still think we can go very far, possibly winning a ring. But I'm looking towards building a dynasty, and I think for that, getting a quicker Center with more offensive abilities than Perkins, who is just as defensive oriented and just as mean on the glass, is what we need.
Whenever we talk about drafting big men in the first round, I'll say that he needs to have more potential than Perkins has, or else I'm not interested. Why waste our 1st round pick on a big man who's not likely to move past Perkins? Perkins is our future Center right now. But I do think we can go further with a Center who has more abilities than Perkins.
