Utah has just gotten Portland's #3 for its 6 and 20somethingorother. Don't see a mention of any players involved.

They gave up a whole lot to get that #3 pick. I think this is a mistake on Utah's part. Even if they are getting Deron Williams or Chris Paul, they are not one piece away from being a contending team. They're giving up 2 first rounder, plus if they're giving up their 2006 first rounder, they lose out on another possible building block.

I think I agree with Derren, but since next year has the 19 age limit it should be a weak draft. It's basicaly giving up Gerald Gree, the 27th pick, and next year's for #3, so it will come down to who next year's player could be. NBAdraft.net predicts it would be someone like LaMarcus Alridge. Things will work out great for that guy next year. He was thinking of coming out in his high school year. Now he can come out next year against no high schoolers

The Cavs gave us their future 1st round pick for Jiri Welsch. They now traded him to the Bucks for a second rounder. Not wise investing.
Jiri Welsch is on the move again. I feel for the kid--he's a good guy and a good player, and I feel that he'll find his home one day and be a good player.

Aldridge's year was interrupted about midway with hip surgery. I don't know what the prognosis is on recovery.
I think it is right smart of a lot to give up. Seems to me a lot to give up for someone whose stock soared AFTER the season was over, and AFTER he lost some weight, which supposedly increased his athleticism---or whatever the right word is.

Jiri might find his way on to a Celtic bench that wins #17 or 18. I like the kid too. Needs to find his shot again.

When you look at what DA has drafted it's been 2 college guys (Banks and Allen) 2 high school guys and a college freshmen I think (D West). Both 2nd rounders were 4 yr college guys. The high schoolers seem to be the cornerstones and Banks was supposed to be. No international at all. Not even 2nd round. I wonder what it all means.

Perkins -- HS (not officially chosen by the Celtics) Al Jefferson -- HS Delonte West -- college junior Tony Allen -- college senior Marcus Banks -- college senior Justin Reed -- college senior Brandon Hunter -- college senior
Ainge's record indicates he takes players who are really young or proven college upper classmen. But I don't think this is his intention. Just so happened to be the players he liked at where he was picking.

Yeah, I think Utah gave up WAY too much for the #3. The draft will officially begin in about 15 minutes. I'm so excited!
