All- New England has a QB I would like at PG with the Celts...
And I'm a Dolphin fan...Everything looks better to me, as far as NFL.

Amazing!! 2 Celtics and Dolphins fans on the same board!!
C17, all I'm hoping for this year is for the Phins to finally draft a QB in the first round, a RB in the second and some new offensive linemen.
O - 6, and it doesn't get any easier. I thought we had a chance to get a victory against the winless Bills. But our offense isn't good enough to even score against that pitiful defense.

Why isn't everyone on here along with a celtics fan a patriots one? Derren, you might as well go for the heat. I never got why you liked All east teams when you're from Hawaii. Id go for the Rainbows or the Sacramento Kings or something. If you have been to the east coast, then you can say that I route for east coast teams because I feel like an east coast dude or something. Maybe thats the case but its just so weird that you dont have a whole set of same city teams. Then again, it may not be. That could just be me talking. I also find it odd that celtic17 is an iowa boy who is a fan (a die hard one to say the least) of the celtics and dolphins. I like teams from other cities but I couldn't be true to them like I'd be to teams that I am nearby to. I live in FL now so being a dolphin or a new heat or magic fan wouldn't be too far fetched for me even though I'm from MA. I just think peoples true fan system can often work weird thats all. I dont plan to become a heat and magic fan though. Its also who you're also influenced by too. Maybe the bird days did it to both of you. The celtics were loved in the midwest at a time (minnesota, indiana and more places). Thats of course before the pacers were a threat or the celtics meetings post larry bird gave those 2 teams a rivalry like due to bird changing sides.

John- There was a lot to like about the Celtics before Larry Bird came to town. But, one day I wuz out kicking some !!!GREENIAC!!! here in Iowa and jumped on the band wagons of the best teams. Celtics, Dolphins and Oakland A's. Look back, before you were born, about 1973-74. They were all the best. I was about 9 yo and liked to win. So I became a fan and have NEVER thought about changing teams since. Man, I have seen some sad teams for some number of years between my favorites. It's kinda like having a girlfriend or wife. When the times get tough you deal with them and move forward. You don't just dump them and move on to the next 'hottie' that comes around. I respect loyalty. Another thing. When I was growing up we had 4 TV channels to pick from. No ESPN, no Super Stations, just ABC, NBC, CBS & PBS. Not the 100's we have now...The good teams were the ones on the tube. That made these teams more 'local', in a sence, because you could get to know the players by seeing them each week. That's my side in a nut shell...

I can totally see why you'd go for other teams then. If they were on tv all the time due to greatness, they would be like a home team growing up anyways. What year were you born in? You must of actually saw the old celtic games on tv. Your avatar is Havilcek after all.

A teacher asks her students if they're Yankees fans. All of the hands go up except for one student. "Okay, Bobby. What team are you a fan of?"
"The Red Sox."
"Why's that?"
"Well, my parents are both Red Sox fans, so I'm a Red Sox fan too."
"That's not a good answer, Bobby. If your parents were both morons, would you be a moron too?"
"No, that would make me a Yankees fan!"

Good one, BC. ;D
Johnny, I think the reason why I don't root for my hometown team is because I don't have one. Surely, if Hawaii did have a professional basketball team, I'd be more inclined to cheer for them and not for some other mainland team.
I have no loyalty to one city. For instance, I may love the Celtics, but I'm not a Red Sox fan. I'm a Baltimore Orioles fan. Though I like the Celtics, I don't care for the Patriots. I cheer for the Dolphins (which admittedly, is a bit hard these days).
I cheer for these teams because they were the teams I first fell for when I got interested in those sports. The Dolphins because of Dan Marino and the Orioles because of Cal Ripken.

Its weird that you arent a bandwagoner like some fans were of teams not out of their area with big stars and then when they retired, nobody cared except the actual city or area fans of the team. Like for example: There are very few bulls fans outside of Chicago now that Jordan is gone. You would be the example of someone who was still their fan if lets say that was your nba team. I bet nobody outside of maryland cares about the orioles anymore now that cal retired or the far outside of the miami area with the dolphins now that marino is gone. I was a fan of the suns when barkely was there but once he left, I didnt give a damn same with the magic once they dismantled that team. However, I have favorite teams due to their good logos (not past stars)like the expos. Good one, BC. ;D Johnny, I think the reason why I don't root for my hometown team is because I don't have one. BUT, I remain loyal though the bad times. To me that is what a true fan does...

Yea especially to be fans of teams that out of staters typically quit on once their dynasties ended.

I remain loyal though the bad times. To me that is what a true fan does... yes true fan should be fan through all times, but i find it to be very depressing to be a fan of, say, clippers for example
