What is the full meaning of it and why is it used in here so much? Its origin stems from the phrase, "in between player", as in a player who isn't the prototypical position player but can play both positions. The NBA is full of these players because there are 6'3" guys who think they're Michael Jordan, but in actuality should be a PG because of the height. But they can't play the Point well because for most of their lives, they've tried to emulate Jordan rather than developing their PG skills. So this leaves you with a "tweener". Same thing for smaller PF's who aren't really SF's.
