I'd trade Paul for the third pick and Van Exel in a heartbeat. Then trade down a few spots and get future picks. I don't think the Celts can win with Paul (or Antoine for that matter). You need an MVP type player (or 2 or 3) to win a championship. If you don't have one you go the Pistons/Patriots route and get a ton of excellent players with awesome chemistry (and maybe a defensive player of the year type). It appears we're headed the Pistons route, and I don't think Paul Pierce fits in there. I don't think he's a hungry leader. I got tired of watching him and Antoine get killed every playoffs. This team should get another high energy high performance big man like Ike Diogo and start a bad boys defensive thing with Perk. You need a good smart point guard with that. Since Chris Paul was overhyped and got Wake Forest nowhere in college I'd go with Derron Williams or Felton with a high pick. But only if they can't get that Lithuanian Sarunus. Then sign a sg like Redd or just hold onto the money and bide our time since the team is so young. Draft two sgs in the 2nd round and let them fight it out. Maybe Luther Head and Amir Johnson. Give valuable minutes to Tony A and Delonte. And forget all about Pierce. Yea if there is no more Duncans in any lotterys, you have to go the pistons route. Ainge has no problem with that I doubt. Especially knowing offensive teams don't get the job done. I doubt a pg can come in here like Nash to be a total offensive team nor can a Duncan come here to make a great balance of defense and offense that can start a whole dynasty. This team is more likely headed towards the piston mold with offense and defense but not a 23ppg scorer and 11 rbd guy like TD. Even if Jefferson goes as far as Zach Randolph did, that still won't be a superstar but it will be a damn good player especially in an organized team game. Another Billups can come here. West could even be the guy. Maybe even that Sergi Fernandez. As far as our current team, Pierce is not a hungry leader at all. Walkers a choke artist. This team needs all new blood with maybe a Donyell Marshall coming off the bench here and there. But everything has to be new. The new addition veterans our team gets should be veterans who wont be starting besides Raef (seeing theres no other center good enough to pass him yet unless Al J becomes a center) but can provide guidance. Ricky can be a Rip Hamilton only I see more of Reggie Millers game in Rip. It would at least be nice to know that if there is no sg as big as Pierce is that Ricky can be a team player. That may be a tad undecided. I hope it works.

Letting go of Pierce and Walker is just like when the Pats got rid of Bledsoe. Too much money. Can't lead to a championship. Tired of the act. Let the young guys play. Simple decision really.

Many have already linked the similarities of letting Pierce go to the situation the Red Sox faced when letting Nomar Garciapparra go. Previously, Nomar was the face of the Red Sox and a fixture on the All-Star team. But fans soured on him as a player and the majority were torn between keeping him or trading him away. They traded him, and the rest is now history. I honestly think we should move in a new direction, without Pierce.

Derren, I agree. You also forgot the detroit situation also. in Doug Collins direction, Stackhouse and Grant Hill weren't enough to win them a title. Hill just didn't have the defense. Ratliff was not near Big Ben on defense. Laettner also was heading downward when he was with Hill on Detroit. Stack was a ballhog. Even after Hill, Stackhouse and Cliff Robinson couldn't lead them to a title. They got rid of them and the rest is history. They signed Chauncey to cheap because he was a journeyman and now, hes one of the best players they got. They drafted Prince and hes the type of player in which I'm confident Danny can find in one of these next 2 drafts.

And much like the Pistons after their reformation, we also need to get players who can play in our new schemes. Getting players who are smart with the ball, who can run, who can shoot and pass, and play defense are the prerequisites to being on the team. Egos need to be left outside the arena and once you punch in, you give your heart and soul to the team.

Right. With Dannys vision being strict with egos, there are just certain guys who may not be able to handle it. If any of our young ones can't, Its probably Allen. We also have to see Ricky in action without Pierce to see if he also is gonna stay a team player.

Euros can adapt to the team game nicely which is nice. This is why Roku Ukic would be a good pick for us. Even if he may not come out right away. Hell, at least it gives a yr for West to start at point anyways before he does arrive and also give Banks more pt.

What big man is that? Petro? I say Petro could be a secondary pick for the c's.

There's also Taft. He may slide to 18.

Taft, of course he'll slide. Petro might be a better pick though. He could be the next Dalembert and if not, he could be better than Blount anyways. You figure Petro is from France, Dalembert is from Haiti. Name me 2 comparisons with France and Haiti.

You figure Petro is from France, Dalembert is from Haiti. Name me 2 comparisons with France and Haiti. Petro is an intriguing prospect especially with his height. But, Petro is as raw as a player can get (from what I read). He probably will be another project like K-perk. I would also be satisified if Ainge takes Andray Blanche. 7'0" PF/C from HS who has the ability to score inside and shoot the 3-pointer. And he had a couple good all-star games performances under his belt.

If Ainge goes after Blatche (which I don't get the feeling he will), he could be possibly intersted in converting him to a SF. Even though Blatche is listed as a PF, his future could be at SF, ala Bird and Stojakovic--really tall players who play the perimeter. Not sure just how good his outside stroke is, but I just don't see the need to have a 3 point shooting PF. With us, I'm sure he'll be turned into a SF.

Whos better? Blatche or Villeunova? Both could be a 4 or a 3. Oh and nobody answered my France/Haiti question. Haitians speak french and Haiti is owned by France.
