Not to beat a deadhorse, well maybe, but am I the only one who still thinks we don't really need these guys? Not saying I'm not happy to have them, because I am, but we are 49-12 and kicking the crap out of teams and on a total roll. I still like what TA and House and Baby and Powe are doing off the bench in the positions that brown and cassell are most likely going to steal minutes. Not saying they won't be a good fit, and I'm not excited to have these guys, because I am, but I guess I'm just not as excited as others. I really didn't think these moves were necessary. They are more insurance moves and I just hope we don't mess up what we already have going.
I also like what Doc has been doing with the rotations, and I Think he will do a good job with these guys and play them in spots and in the right position. I guess I just don't nitpick like a lot of people and I watch the games and think doc is doing a great job and we have players that come in and do their thing. Players aren't going to have a great night every night, and coaches aren't always going to make the right sub. But we've done a lot more right then wrong this year. 99.9% of the time I understand what we are trying to do and what doc is trying to do. As long as it makes sense and they got the job done the other stuff doesn't really matter. TAke last night for example. Doc subbed rondo in with 5 seconds left in the quarter to race up the court and he did and hit a big shot, but I don't hear anyone applauding him for that. I watch these games and 99.9% of the time win or lose I see us trying to do the right things. This team is going to win a championship and if they don't, they are going to die trying and die trying to do the right things i guess is the point. I have total respect for this team and what they are trying to do.

Like you said, these are insurance moves. I dont think we are going to see PJ playing that much. I anticipate him in Pollards role. He wont play every game, but will see minutes depending on matchups and end of game scenarios. In playoffs he will bring much needed experience and rebounding.
Sam, on the other hand, will be backing up Rondo which will free House to move to the SG spot up 3 point shooting role that he's played in his journey mans career in the NBA. This will affect some minutes, but I dont think the impact will be negative or sufficient enough to disrupt the chemistry we already have developed. We have to remember that we've been getting away, effectively, with House/TA/Ray bringing the ball up when Rondo is on the bench with foul trouble. And I know we've been satisfied with the outcome enough not to think its a legitimate hole in our team. However, this will leave us open to traps, especially come playoff time. I really dont want us "getting by" with off guards running our point especially deep in the playoffs when teams are more aggressive with their D and trapping. Signing Sam is a great option because as we know he is a true PG ballhandler, that will spread out offense, that can beat the D and traps and come in when the Refs decide to hit Rondo with phantom fouls just for being aggressive. So, personally I look at this more as a playoff move than something that will impact our current rosters minutes. I guess thats why I dont have any reservations about this trade.

Good response Loy. I do see Cassell and Brown making an impact and that's a good thing. . Not trying to play this off like who cares either way either. I I think they will fit in as well. We are in agreement pretty much. WE basically at this point have 12 guys that can all play and compliment each other well. I also completely understand what people are saying about just getting by and if you can improve then do it. That's not really what I was trying to say or say hey we are fine why change. That wasn't it. I just like what we are doing and continue to do. I seriously have had very little problem with any move or decision this team has made from top to bottom so far thsi year. It's just nice to enjoy it and have faith in the decisions these guys are making and continue to make, I guess is the point I was trying to make. it's nice to root for a team where you don't have to worry about that stuff. I said we could use these guys and we were talking about nothing because if DA felt like a move needed to be made, he'd make it and he did. We are fine and will continue to be so barring some sort of catastrophe.
I do hope like you said that we continue to put the players on the floor that give us the best chance to win whether that be powe or brown or cassell or however. The nice thing about this team is we now are 12 deep and doc can really go to the well and pick and choose who he wants out there depending on matchups and the situation and can't go wrong either way. I'm glad you have no reservations. Now we can talk about how awesome this team is playing. Because they pretty much are playing really good right now. Hopefully it will continue, but teams are going to have ups and downs. We are on a hot streak right now.

Somebody asked me once what I wanted Boston to do to satisfy the short bench I perceived Boston to have..........these are exactly the two players I had in mind, and if I had the time to formulate a well thought out response, I would hope that it would be able to deliver the same concise outline of reason that Loy has introduced in this thread. I don't think I could have articulated it any better if given a month to do so.

I didn't realize how obnoxious that would look quoting myself............if I keep that up I may start talking in the third person!!! The Findawgg doesn't talk in the third person..........The Findawgg thinks talking about the Findawgg in the third person is completely without class. The Findawgg doesn't like being unclassy.... --Fin

HAHAHA! FIN!
Yea, I totally agree that these moves were not made because we had to for the regular season. We're 50 and 12! We certainly know we are good enough to get away with House backing the Point. However, that wont always be the case and top tier teams will look to exploit this. So, like you said this is a move for the immediate future.

The moves were made, because in the playoffs, the team's weaknesses will be magnified (so will every team's weaknesses). Somewhat like an insurance policy, that you may not need, but if you do, you will be glad you have.
