Played their best combined game last night and it was exciting to see. These two guys are really coming a long. Rondo is a total stud and keeps getting better. He's a couple missed bunnies a game and a couple mistakes away from shooting 60% and being one of the best pgs around. He's only in his second year but as he continues to improve he's going to be that much bettter. perk on the other hand has been overlooked a bit. BEfore he got injured he was really coming on as well. As he's gotten healthy he's been getting back to that. I'd still like Perk to expand his offense a bit. This is where pj might help because he can hit that 10-15 foot shot, but Perk is playing very solid in what he's doing of late. Both players on defense and taking advantage of what they can do have been really great and much improved over the last month or so..

If Perk and Rondo play like that the rest of the year no matter what the bench realistically does we go undefeated the rest of the way till we hang up banner 17

This quote from Lex Nihil Novi (one of my favorite blogs) makes a lot of sense. Plus with Perk getting healthy again from the shoulder injury, he can move better to get rebounds and position.
On the other hand, Rondo has steadily been improving with every game. When KG went down, he became more aggressive and has kept that up since KG's return.

The thing is Brown is not Walton and Perk is not parish at least not yet, but I agree with the sentiment of the statement that this will allow guys to go balls to the wall when they are in the game. I agree that cassell will compliment rondo well and brown to perk and that's the good thing. The thing is I think Rondo and Perk do their best and do that anyways. I think it's more about just the development of these guys. As each guy becomes more well rounded and proficient they are going to be better players. Perk in particular has holes in his game he needs to improve. I think next year we will see perk start to expand his offensive game a bit. Rondo has started to do that this year and his shot is so much better. But he is going to continue to improve in that regard.
The main thing I like about both these guys are they are heady players. Perk might not be completely there yet, but he surprises me so many times a game with a smart pass, or a steal or he's leading the break like a pg and is in the perfect spot in the middle of the floor and throws the right pass to the right guy. Perk is a very smart player. He reminds me of parish so much in that regard. He has good hands as well but he needs to develop a better touch aroudn the basket and get a shot of some sort. I think he has that ability. Perk has been a project and one of those guys I think will flourish later in his career as he develops.

Perk apparently has a decent 10-15 foot jumper or at least that's what Tommy says..And he says he 's pretty good at it..I think he just hasn't gotten used to shooting it during a game..His free throws have improved and Rondo has become a finishing machine...I would like to see Rondo control the game and lead the game like he did against the Bobcats, that was probably the first game i saw him take hold of the whole offense..I would like to see Perk unleash more of a versatile offense but i don't expect that yet, maybe next year like you said...PJ will help Baby/Powe/Perkins a lot IMO...

The only thing that scares me about Rondo is his FT shooting. But that is why we are bringing in Cassell. It's hard to win in the playoffs with a poor FT shooting PG.

I remember McHale saying the same thing; that with a reliable bench he could play at a faster pace and not worry about fatigue or foul trouble. Plus PJ can give us much needed height off the bench.
