This is pure speculation on my part, and I sincerely hope it is nothing more than a stiff shoulder, but...........................If Perk is out long term, does Boston make a stop gap deal to solidify the 5 spot, especially with since Pollard has been day to day for nearly the entire season? OR...................do they allow the depleted line up to take the floor and do it's best until the team gets healthy? With Pollard being a constant question mark (sorry Scott, but you've been unreliable at best.........happy birthday by the way), a shortage in the front court even before the injuries started to pile up, and 2 open roster spots, it's in Boston's best interest to get a big now rather than later. I'm not sure where they could get the help from, so who do the C's go after?

Ainge has got to get some frontcourt help. Even if Perk jumps back immediately, we should bring in some help.
I don't know if there's much we can do on the trade front, and there's not much on the free agent front.

P.J. Brown may be available as a free agent but i don't know how much he has left...If it's nothing serious and Perk comes back i think we're decent if Pollard also comes back..I just don't know if they ever will...Powe and the rest can handle the job for the season most of the times but we will most likely get burned by teams with a big force inside when it matters most though i'm loving what Powe is doing with this opportunity..

I don't see Danny making any stop gap moves. He is concerned with chemistry and whoever he brings in has to fit in that chemistry. The Globe this morning quoted Perk saying he was fine. I wonder if he just tweeked a muscle or something and with his history of shoulder problems they didn't want to take a chance. He will be evaluated today and then we will know for sure. but that quote in the globe gives me some hope it may not be serious.

We have good depth imo. We have played with Garnett and Perk and our bench has stepped up. Pollard, Scal, Davis, Powe is good depth. Pollard and Scal are basically for situations when we need fouls or just someone who can go int here and matchup and bang around a bit. If you notice Pollard plays when we play a big man like Yao or whoever.... Scal starts because we dont want to risk getting Davis or Powe in early foul trouble because they are our production off the bench. Scal is in there to pick a few fouls and play defense if need be and then powe and davis come in and play the majority. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Ainge makes no moves unless its something too good to pass up like getting someone for free who can really help us. I also don't see Ainge making stopgap moves. We are fine. If we make a move it's going to be someone who can really help us. That's even in question.

Id rather play Earl Boykins at the 5 than Pollard. But he signed with the Bobcats.
We definitely should have dealt Scal for Stromile Swift.

I generally agree with Chief. I'd be fine with bringing in like an energetic NBDL guy to take Pollards spot while Pollard is hurt a lot but wouldn't look at him as much more than an emergency/practice/fouls guy. But I definitely think we should do something before we can't. I'd rather have a good problem than wait till it's too late

Players like that are always going to be available though..... You can p ick someone up halfway decent any time.. It's just think it's weird because I was thinking the opposite and this as a positive and how well our bench has stepped up. Perk's injury didn't look serious at all to me. It just looked like he tweaked his shoulder a bit. The sky is falling. The sky is falling.

It wasn't a knee jerk reaction!! If recent history illustrates anything, injuries can, will and do happen and they can be devastating to a team. Fortunately for Boston over the last 6 games they played 3 sub par teams and 3 pretty good teams. Green went 3-0 against the bad ones and 1-2 against the good ones. Boston's ability to stem the tide despite recent health issues is as much a reflection of the schedule as it is ability. Without Pollard, Boston needs another man in the back court, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. At this point I'm much more comfortable with the back court then the front court. Scal, Powe (despite his solid contribution and new found playing time) and Davis aren't going to cut it long term........period!

Even if they aren't going to cut it whoever you bring in has to be better. I'm beginning to think Pollard is basically irrelevant cause I'm not convinced at all that he is better than Powe and Davis. You aren't going to get someone better in the NBDL. Teams don't usually like trading better players for worse or less proven ones, and there aren't many free agents willing to play for what we could offer. I am pretty sure DA and pretty much every other GM has made their calls to PJ Brown and Keith Van Horn and even Charles Oakley and there's a reason those guys and the Gary Paytons of the world aren't in the league this year. We are largely stuck with what we have with only a possibility of making superficial trades.

Pollard is not irrelevant because he has six fouls to give ...

Even Kandiman, as much as it pains me to say so, was a better big off the bench last year, then Pollard has been this year. All I want is a guy who can who isn't afraid to mix it up, waist his fouls when necessary, pull down a few boards and find the hoop from time to time. Pollard fits that criteria to a 'T', but he has to play to contribute. There is a body out there that can be had and has this skill type. I guess this is why part of me would rather have kept Wallace under contract for the year.

Pollard is not irrelevant because he has six fouls to give ... True, but even you and I have 6 fouls to give. I'll even give a 7th if they let me

A starting front court that features its tallest player at 6'8" may be good enough to beat the Knicks, but will struggle against teams that have bigs that can play. Fortunately the injuries have come close enough to the All-Star break that it may not be an issue. An abdominal strain is a very tricky injury, it is well within the realm of possibility that this injury will hamper KG for the entire season, so the more rest he gets, the better. Perk's injury is much more worrisome. It is the same shoulder as before, only this time it came out with NO contact, which means it WILL come out again, and it probably means Perk will have to have another procedure on it. Boston isn't going to be able to find anybody available that is going to be better than Perk or KG (obviously), but there is help out there. If the Celtics front court (including Pollard) can't come back to form relatively soon after the break..............Danny will need to make a move.
