the reason i rate allen so high is that he plays excellent defense, not fot his flashy dunks. these are bonus

Allen reminds me of a Trenton Hassell. I say he can be that good at best. I won't hold hopes out for him to be a lot better.

btw i really like hassell as well, i like everybody who commits to defense. allen's ceiling is definitely higher than hassell's though

You think by a decent amount? His ceiling is only higher for athleticism if he becomes that same type of player making him more explosive than Hassell could ever be. I dunno if he will be much better though.

Other than Hassel's defensive abilities, there really isn't much of a comparison between Tony Allen and Trenton Hassel. Tony Allen has a chance to be a far better player than Hassel. Trenton cannot create his own offense, he's not much of a slasher, he's not much of a fast break player, and you won't catch him on highlight reels throwing down monster dunks off of misses. And Allen is a world apart athletically and he can run circles around Hassel.
Hassel does have a reliable jumper, something Allen doesn't yet have. But if he's vigilant this summer, Allen may be able to have one that is useable.

well it's not like tony doesn't have the jumper at all. he has shown flashes and hit some important shots. the problem with him is the consistency of his shot.

Right now, his motion is too jerky and he stands too upright on his shot. He's shooting it way too late--way after where he should release the ball and it causes his shot to be flat and archless. It'll be the best for him to shot 500 jumpers a day this summer--the right way. Maybe Dana Barros can work with him.

Reed is probably the better guy to compare Hassell to. Either way, if Reed pans out like that even, hed be a good 2nd rd'er. Allen can be a bit better than a Hassell. I underestimated him kinda. Allen appears right now to be like Chris Duhon. Duhon could also get better. Allen is a better defender though. Its hard to say who I can compare Allen to. For all stars, maybe Artest or J-Rich. I don't think hell be as offensive minded as J-Rich though but will have better D. Artest is probably the better comparison only one who won't go into the stands.

artest probably would be the best comparison. remember when artest was a rookie he didn't have decent offense as well

J-Rich is comparable to Allen because of his athleticism. Game-wise, they are different.
Richardson plus Artest, packed into a compact body is sort of what Tony Allen is all about.

Yea when Artest was a rookie, nobody saw much in him at first and he also went to a good college (St Johns) like Tony Allen did. I can see some comparisons although Allen is a different person. He won't come out exactly the same.

I'm gonna say Lefty and a 2nd rounder just because I really want to get Felton, and I think Felton-Banks would be a better PG combo. I still like Delonte though and I definately wouldn't mind him being our future starting PG if we aren't able to get Felt.

Yeah, I am on the Felton wagon here too. I think he would make the offense look sharp w/ our current wings.

Danny doesn't have any of this in mind though. This is everyone on here talking. its the hoping and wishing although this topic isn't to the higher extent like Derrens getting Bogut topics but I highly believe West and Banks both are not going anywhere and if Banks is, it won't be for Felton. Don't assume teams are gonna bite on it. We may be better off in the long run too. Felton could become an Andre Miller which technically would make him no better than what West has the potential to become.
