Big Baby was sensational in the win against Detroit last night, and has most definitely secured himself a spot in the permanent rotation for the rest of the year. With that said, the real story here was Pierce.
In the first loss to the Pistons, Pierce looked disoriented all game. His shot was flat, he wasn't creating for others and he just never got into any kind of rhythm. This is why we lost. This would be like Garnett all of a sudden not defending or rebounding. It's not something we hope to get out of Pierce, we have come to expect it. This is why I felt so confident coming into last nigh'ts rematch. Pierce could not and would not play that poorly ever again.
19 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists later, Pierce redeemed himself and so did the Celtics. These numbers are extremely impressive, however they don't even tell the whole story. The Pistons had absolutely no answer for Pierce, and as the game got into the 4th quarter, this became even more obvious. The Pistons repeatedly threw 3 or 4 guys at Pierce when he drove to the basket, and Pierce's unselfish transpired in a monster game for Big Baby. You know Pierce has come a long way when he can have a monster game while scoring below 20 points. This is not something we could have said 3 or 4 years ago. In a game of elite players, elite teams and an elite atmosphere, Pierce was the best.

The way Pierce could drive on the Pistons time over time again reminded me of last year's ECF with Lebron destroying the Pistons by his continuous drives and the Pistons had no remedy for it..Pierce took over the game in the 4th quarter but instead of scoring all the points and taking all the shots he took over the game differently, by creating...

The last two game really surprised me. During the games I didn't think Pierce was doing all that much and then when I saw the box score I realized that he was very key in the win. He has been doing it all within the flow of the game and not forcing anything which makes it even better

Pierce finally has a team around him and he is showing the player he is. He's awesome. Pierce is a total team guy. He's one of the best players ever to play the game and has been horribly underrated because of the state of the celtics over the years. I can imagine how Pierce feels finally having a team around him. He's come a long way, and it's a great story.
