According to NBA.com Odom has been suspended for 1 game and the flagrant 1 was upgraded to a flagrant 2.
Personally, I don't think one game is enough. He tackled him for no reason with no intent to make a play on the ball. They should make an example of him because plays like that could easily end a season or even a career for a player. We are fortunate that Ray wasn't hurt but he certainly could have been. A one game suspension isn't enough.

I agree. That was a total cheapshot. Is a 1 game suspension and a flagrant 2 really going to deter him from doing it again or another player doing the same who doesn't necessarily have a past of such things? Ray should be worried going into every game that a player is going to take his head off. It's the same penalty if next game mcgrady decides to do the same to Pierce. The officiating in general has been such a joke this year. The league really needs to clean up it's officiating. Odom was seen laughing after the play and I'm sure he still is.

Had the hit caused some damage, I'm sure he would have had a bigger suspension. Luckily, Ray didn't even get a scratch from the hit, which is probably why the fine isn't heavier.

I would have given him a 10 game suspension, a million dollar fine, and taken away the Laker 1st round draft choice. But that is just me.

I would have given him a 5 game suspension..people get 1 game suspensions for getting off the bench! So the league is saying taking someone down is like getting off the bench during a brawl..whatever, we're 26-3 and i've lost my respect for Odom..

The NBA should have a rule, like "instigating", which levies a 3-5 game suspension. Allen could been hurt, or the play could have errupted into an Artest melee.

I'm actually surprised Odom did what he did, and who he did it to. Odom isn't a thug, by any means. And for him to go after a gentlemen like Ray, it just doesn't make sense. I can see him taking out his aggression against someone like Posey, cause Posey has made some enemies over the years (FL put together a video of Posey's incidences)--but Ray?
