You know I like him Derren... He is underrated guy that has gone under the radar imo because he doesnt do anything overly spectacular. Just a really solid player that knows how to play team ball. MIchigan St in general just is a good program and knows how to play the game. They are showing that so far in the tourney. What do you think of Davis Derren? He seems liek a guy that might go later in t he round if he comes out. Plus he could be a player we could use down the road.

Well CF, if you ask me, at best, he's a late first rounder. But most likely a second round draft pick. I really don't have a feeling for the guy either way. He's not quick enough for my taste, or that coordinated. He's tall and long, but he gets pushed around easily and gets put back on his heels quite a bit. He's a good guy and a hard worker. But at the next level, I just don't see him competing well enough. He's not even at Chris Mihm's level. But that's just my opinion. I could be way off (I know, its hard to believe, but yes, even I make mistakes once in awhile ;D). I remember in the '03 draft, I was high on this guy named Uche Nswondu-Amadi, who I was certain was going to be a second round gem. But he never got picked up by any team Not even as an undrafted free agent. That was not the first time I was wrong, and it certainly won't be the last time.

Well late first round is most likely where we will be drafting. I agree with your analysis but I think he is a hard worker and will hang around the league as a good roleplayer. I dont expect a star here. He has a good body, size, intelligence, works hard, passes the ball well and has fluid post moves, plus he can shoot it for a big guy. No he isnt the quickest guy in the league but he does hustle. Plus he plays well in a team concept. He's basically the best player on a team that doesnt have any stars and plays well in that role. Plus he always seems to come up big in the clutch.

True--talent and skills aren't the only factors to look at. He may not be that athletic or coordinated, but I do not underestimate intangibles. But even that, he didn't strike me as a guy with a whole lot of intangibles.
What he has going for him is height and length. He does not have size, though (as in mass and bulk).
He could very well be a systems kind of guy, like you mentioned. If he can latch on with the right team in the NBA who can utilize his strengths, he may have a decent to good career in the NBA.
