What do we need from our bench?

Watching last nights game got me thinking what kind of bench are we ultimately aiming for. Ultimately I think we'd like to see a lot of games like last nights game where the entire starting 5 is on their game. As Rondo and Perk continue to improve we are hopefully going to see more and more games like this. So where does that leave the bench? I think Ainge is trying to assemble a bench with as many hardnosed defensive type guys that he can, and an aggressive bunch that can really make an impact when they are out there. I really like the idea of bringing in KEdrick. I think he fits that mold to go along with guys like TA and Posey and HOuse and Pollard, Big BAby and Scal and Powe and the guys we have.

I'd also like us to bring in another big man and a pg who can handle the ball but is going to be aggressive defensively and driving to the hoop. I don't know if the names i've heard really fit that. Maybe we will make a trade. I know Ainge was really interested in keyon dooling a while back. But there might be a lesser named pg out there that can do a better job. Maybe someone like Darrell Armstrong GP also is a tough guy that fits that mold. I think if anything iwhen assembling the bench in the past Ainge has shown a propensity to not go for the name and find the best fit. If you look at all the players he has brought they are tough minded, workmanlike, hard nosed, physical strong defensive minded players. Who guessed Scott Pollard and Eddie House or any of these guys? Derren guessed Posey, but there is a trend.

I like our hardnosed, aggressive bench...Especially the way they cheer when they're on the bench..They're always full of energy and trying..Look at House, who knew he would be trying so hard on the defensive end...Darrell Armstrong sounds like a good fit too, but i'm just going to put my faith in Danny that he'll do whatever is best in his eyes...

What do we need from our bench?

They seem to pick up the Celtics at the right times...... like early in the 2nd qtr or late in the 3rd when the Big three are resting. Usually, Doc leaves one of the big three out there. But James Posey has always been one of the better 6th men out there and Danny Ainge being able to sign him up was huge. Also Eddie House is a constant 3 point threat that can make a difference during supposed Celtic lulls. So the Celtics give you matchup problems for all 48 minutes and that is why the outstanding record.

Our bench needs to bring one aspect per player to the game.

House - clutch 3-point shooting
Posey - lockdown defense
Allen - high energy
Pollard - 6 hard fouls
Baby - inside scoring
Scala - wave the towel

Sean Williams from the New Jersey Nets. An aggressive and ultra athletic shot blocker who comes out of nowhere to swat shots away is something I would like to have off the bench.

We also need a low post scorer (not only off the bench, but also in the starting lineup).

And of course, good backups at the 1 and 5.

Really? I didn't know that. Well, he's still making an impact, and I've forgiven Ricky Williams for smoking dope and leaving my Dolphins, so forgiving another guy for smoking band substances won't be so hard.

Wait, I'm not asking for Sean Williams--I'm asking for a player in the mold of Sean Williams. That's what I think we are missing (I would say this constitutes as our need for a backup Center).
