FL may have been the only one who believed that Rajon could improve his jumper. I have doubted, some experts have doubted, but FL has never doubted.
Rondo has impressed me incredibly with his baseline jumpers. Its becoming automatic. Of course, he needs to keep this up for the entire season before I'm totally convinced, but already he's making me believe.
Good call, FL.

Sure, RunRondo ;D (J/k).
This season, I want to see Rondo consistently hit those kick out jumpers. Over the summer, I want him to work on the stop-and-pop jumpers on the elbows--the all important move for PG's. That way, after he runs passed a pick, he'll have the option of pulling up for a quick open jumper instead of always running.

Rondo is getting it. Rondo should be on his way to the All-star game real soon. He won't get the honor this year (while he might because Doc is going to be the coach).
I think KG has told him to look for his shot. His FT shooting is improved too. Rondo's worst matchup is with Chauncey Billups in the EC. In the West, Tony Parker and Steve Nash will be his toughest matchups.

Thanks Derren. I just knew that as hard as he was working that would get it. I am thrilled that he got it this quickly. Now, it won't be all that long till everyone realizes how important Perk is to this team, too.

Wait why didn't you believe he could improve his jumper? Players do this constantly, and it's not that difficult. The formula is pretty simple, shoot about a thousand jumpers a day in the offseason, working with a coach to monitor progress and mechanics. This is exactly what Rondo did in the offseason, and it's exactly why he's hitting shots this year. Also, remember that he wasn't ever really that bad of a shooter. It's called a rookie season, most players struggle shooting the basketball their first year or two in the league (Kevin Durant shooting 41% from the floor this year, and 32% from beyond the arc). His form is ugly, so this is why he took a lot of heat.
However, this year he has made a dramatic transformation, making me believe that maybe he wasn't that bad of a shooter to begin with. Also keep in mind that the sample we used to judge Rondo was extremely small in his first year. The guy barely took any jump shots last year, he's already taken more mid range shots this year then he did all of last year. So it's kind of like a guy who takes 30 free throws all year, we can't really get an accurate assessment of what kind of free throw shooter he is from that. I think people jumped the gun on callilng Rondo a "horrible shooter." He might not have been Ray Allen, but we're talkin about a guy who is hitting almost 60% of his mid range jumpers right now, so what I'm wondering is...when are we gonna stop talkin about it?

Wait why didn't you believe he could improve his jumper?
Well, simple. I do not believe Shaq will ever be a 70% FT shooter, no matter how much he improves. I don't think Joakim Noah will ever have a feather stroke like Ray Allen. And after seeing how Rajon struggled to repeat his shooting form, and seeing how far off the rim he was on many (many!!) of his shots, I just didn't think it was possible that Rajon would ever be able to swish in 5 consecutive baseline jumpers in an actual game.
But lo, he's been able to do it, and I'm actually starting to believe that he can one day be an adequate shooter. He's got to prove it to me first, but he's taking solid steps forward.
Also, remember that he wasn't ever really that bad of a shooter. It's called a rookie season, most players struggle shooting the basketball their first year or two in the league
No, Rajon had terrible mechanics. He was literally that bad--that's why he's been so hesitant to shoot the ball in the past, even if he had the opening. That's why teams would lay off of him and tempt him to shoot. Durant is a terrific shooter who just happens to be shooting a bad percentage. Rondo was a bad shooter whose shooting percentages reflected his poor mechanics. Look at Durant's free throw shooting and you can see that he's a really good shooter (he's hitting 85% of his FT's). Rondo is sub 60%, even this year. But I'm thinking he can bring that up to the 70% range.
