Our first guest this week will be Lynn Worthy, who covers the Celtics for the Lowell Sun .
While Lynn is a relative new comer to the greater Boston media scene, his work is being noticed and his clever writing style widely appreciated.
In his column of Dec. 2nd ., weeks before the loss to the Pistons, Lynn was warning us, in his inimitable style, about premature celebrations.
I wonder what he thinks of Jumbotron Gino?
Speaking of Gino, our guest for the second hour, the latest in a long line of articulate and thoughtful writers, including our own Justin Poulin and Thomas Halzek ("Tenacious T" who has landed the Celtics beat for the Connecticut Post), covering the team for MVN/Celtics 17 , is MancvegasBob, who has tied his muse to the "The Human Victory Cigar;" ..here & here , but his biggest contributions seem to be in analyzing and presenting complex statistical data, as he does in this article from Dec. 18th ., to thumb his nose at the "conventional wisdom," that the C's are winning most of their games in the 3rd. period.
We hope you will join us.
If you have a question for our guest or the show you can call our toll
free number (1.866.751.9649) anytime leading up to tip off on Sunday
and leave us a voice mail to air live or you can send us an e-mail . As

chat wars in The Pit.

Stop the championship talk right now. Despite what you want to trick yourself into thinking, we've seen nothing. The mere idea of evaluating the Boston Celtics' title chances momentarily stopped the flow of oxygen to my brain when it was brought up after three games......People start championship discussions when they see the Celtics beat opponents like a hand-me-down drum set...... I'm sorry to break the news to you sports fans, but there can be no definitive assessment of the Celtics championship prospects even after 15 games. Anyone who offers one probably has too much television or radio airtime to fill. Or they're just full of more bologna than Oscar Meyer.

But with regard to the 3rd quarter, not so fast. If you want to know if you are going to see Gino or not in the 4th quarter, forget about the 3rd quarter, it’s the 2nd quarter that is a better and earlier indicator that a big victory awaits. And yes, they still have to play the 2nd half to determine the winner, it’s just the Celtics tend to inflict an early death on their opponents after “feeling them out” in the 1st quarter.
For the 12 home games thus far, the Mendoza Line was crossed before half time for all but 2 off them, where the Nets and the Bucks managed to keep the Celtics on their toes before a formal 3rd quarter gear actually had to be used. See the table below . . .
