One thing that is so evident, which brings such a smile to my face, is how well our floor spacing is. No more defenses clogging the lanes, no more congestion on the perimeter--everything is spaced out well, that we can run plays and actually look good.
The spacing is so well that we have open lanes to the basket. If defenses go out of their way to stop our penetrations, that leaves Ray Allen wide open for three's (and he's knocking em down with ease). Our spacing is so well that when guys get into the lanes, its like an automatic layup or a drop off pass that leads to a dunk.
Our spacing is so well that we have numerous scoring options to choose from on every possession. We had a whopping 34 assists our last game.
This is how efficient we have become, and I'm lovin' it!!

We have the players to do it, that is the difference. From a talent perspective Garnett is the perfect compliment to Perk. Pierce to allen. Allen to Rondo. Guys like Perk, Rondo and Davis and TA just need to ilve up to their potential now. Like you were saying Rondo needs to take advantage of the open lanes. Perk needs to take advantage of GArnett and know his spots. I honestly think this team should be putting up close to 100 ppg. WE put up around 90 during the preseason but I really expect around 100 a game. And solid defense to go with it. Perk and Rondo should hopefully be able to have a field day in this offense. Its just going to be difficult to get everyone their stats because we have so many guys who are so used to their numbers where some guys might need to sacrifice in that regard. IMO Rondo should never take a jumpshot in this offense unless the shot clock is running out and even then he should be trying to find one of the big 3 for a last second shot.

You worded it perfectly when you said Perk should have a field day in this offense. I so agree. On his own, he may not be much of an offensive threat, but playing alongside of Garnett, and having an offense that spaces the floor so well, he is bound to get a handful of easy scoring opportunities (and dunks) every game.
I just love it that RAllen has had so many wide open looks, and how Perkins has had so many wide open dunks. Rajon and Tony should take advantage of the floor spacing and attack the basket as often as possible.

The thing with Rondo is he can really have a field day but he needs to knwo when to pass and when to drive. Say at the end of the game he has the ball, and the team is expecting him to be looking for the open man, that is when he drives and gets a layup to win the game. Rondo needs to keep the defense on their heels and not knowing what to expect. He doesnt need to shoot. He just has to keep them on their toes so they dont know when he is going to pass or drive. The better the spacing is and the more ROndo is finding the open man the more the defense is going to spread out and that is when Rondo kills you. If the defense respects the drive and the interior play of Perk and GArnett, that is just going to leave Pierce and Ray Allen and Garnett wide open for jumpshots. If our offense is done right there is no way to stop it. We have great interior players, we have great players who can slash, and we have great shooters at all positions.
Just look at our roster
PG- Rondo-Not a superstar but as a slasher and in quickness he is if he uses his strength House-Great shooter and compliments Rondo perfectly
SG/SF Pierce-Great slasher and one of the best players in the league at getting to the line. Good Shooter Allen-One of the best shooters in the league, good slasher
BAckups Allen-good slasher, decent shooter, good defender Posey-good shooter, decent slasher
PF/C Garnett-Great all around game inside and out Perk-Good Interior player
Backups Scal-decent shooter for a big man Powe-decent interior player Big Baby-Good all around game Pollard-decent interior Player
Each position has a player that compliments the other. I just hope Doc can come up with a decent offense to take advantage of this. I don't know what our offense is. It's a combination of a lot of things. It's not a motion offense. It's not a flex offense. It's not a high post offense. It's a lot of isolation which fine but we jsut have plays from all sorts of different offenses imo.. But imo out offense should be about spacing and the low post and screening and ball reversal, more attuned to a flex. I think we kind of are that but not really. Our offense has been really hard to figure out because we've been trying to develop guys and trying to mpliment an offense at the same time. Plus it's more just a hybrid offense.

I'd like to ask Doc what the hell offense he uses and what plays he uses and what his mindset is sometime. The celtics historically have never really had a set offense which is good. I just hope Doc knows what plays are good for this roster..... It's also not so much about running the play and it shouldn't be. Some coaches are all about running the play and that's not what our offense should be. It should be more about spacing and finding the right guy in the right spot and time. Whether that means posting up Garnett or driving with Rondo or Pierce or whoever. I want to see more ball reversal to keep the defense on their toes and a step behind... Our offense should be about a philosophy as much as an actual set offense anyways imo. But we should be a structured offense at the same time.
I know Doc has been trying to do this. COmpared to the Obie days when we had no offense at all, he has a semblance of an offense but I sometimes question what he is doing, and we aren't getting guys the ball in the right spots. But that could be more attuned to inexperience then Doc. Now that we have experienced players its really up to Doc to put the offensive gameplan together.

I think O'Bie was successful, because the players respected him, and/or quit on Pitino. Though, he wasn't a coach for the long run.
