Tax Evaders Oct 30 - The Nets got just under the luxury tax threshold of $67.85 million and freed up some roster space by trading the guaranteed contracts of 7-footer Mile Ilic and swingman Bernard Robinson to New Orleans yesterday in exchange for guard David Wesley. Wesley will be waived by the Nets, according to general manager Ed Stefanski, which will leave the team with 13 players on its roster.
If the Nets want to pick up an extra shooter for their bench, they could bring in Allan Houston. -- New York Daily News
"It gives us roster flexibility," said GM Ed Stefanski. "We now have 13 guys. The max we can have is 15. We feel good about that flexibility going forward. There are no immediate plans, but we haven't had this flexibility in a while. This is something we'll keep looking at and see if anything comes up that makes sense for us. There's nothing on the table right now." -- New York Post
David Wesley can be a backup PG to Rajon Rondo and he has Boston Celtic roots (pre-Pitino even). I think he can still help us.

I don't know. We have one roster spot left and if we are going to sign a free agent, I think our center back up is more crucial. I still would like to make a trade for a PG though - Scal for Lue works and would be the perfect trade. We get a good back up PG and don't have to watch Scal chuck up every ball that touches his hands. And, Atlanta gets a leader who does the little things.

I'm all for signing old timers, but all signs indicate that Wesley is spent.
