Just wondering what people think of perk this year? His role is going to be fairly limited since he's basically teh 5th wheel in our starting offense, but I'm guessing he is going to get close to 30 mpg. I've also noticed he seems to be in great shape this year. It seems to me like their are a lot of declining centers in the league like Shaq, and Ilgauskis and Brad Miller and guys like Perk, Chandler, Dalembert, Darko, Curry, Biedrines, Bynum are the new class of centers where we might see a change of teh guard in certain ways in the league. I'm not sure if I put Perk in the class of those other guys, but I think people overlook him sometimes. I dont see any of those guys being superstar centers just a new class of young solid centers. He was a highly regarded center coming into the draft and this coudl be his year. What do you think?
Reason I say this is we just had our fantasy draft and I was probably stupid doing this but I took Perk ahead of Ilgauskis and Brad Miller and it was a tough decision. I took him after Bynum, Chandler, Dalembert, Biedrines went and before Darko and Curry went. I was playing favorites taking him ahead of those guys obviously and it was a reach, but I dont think I was that far off with that pick. I think he is in that class..... Was I stupid or smart in doing what I did? If you look at Darko's or Biedrines or Ilgauskis's numbers they are pretty much numbers we expect from Perkins at some point and this could be the year. The thing is Ilgauskis is on the downswing where guys like perk and darko are improving. Honestly as far as centers go I'd probably rate him after Chandler, Dalembert, Biedrines, Bynum and around the same level as Darko, Ilgauskis and Miller statistically. Curry is kind of an enigma because he is a focal point of the knicks offense. If he ever gets his turnovers down he will be that much better. But I still ike Perk. He doesnt hurt you where curry is turning the ball over 4 times a game. I figure if Perk averages 10 and 8 and 2 blocks a game and a couple assists, and shoots well and doesnt kill me with turnovers i got my moneys worth.
