Interestingly enough, I have not been much of a Walker fan all these years, but yet, I'm now thinking he could be a plus off the bench for us. He'll give us a veteran presence who will willingly shoulder the leadership role when parts of the Trilogy are on the bench. He's a fiery vocal guy who will give our second unit leadership on offense (something we've been lacking).

Yeah, I've always had a problem with Walker's game--too much perimeter and no interior. But look at it this way; he'll only be on the floor for 15 mpg, and while he's playing, he'll be providing leadership and attitude. As we've seen this preseason, the second unit needs a take charge guy.

I think that's the difference. Walker as a bench player vs Walker as a starter. We need a sparkplug and Walker is a different kind of player in boston because the fans get on him so much. I could live with his bad nights off the bench. You just sit him down. He'd also be a good fillin until Davis is ready to be that. Maybe Davis will come on sooner than expected but need a player like that imo and they are similar. Davis is more of a banger and probably better suited for the role, but Walker is more of a vet and vocal leader. I personally think he would be good in that role.
Right now we are looking at Scal being that which might make Walker not worth it. Scal and Walker isn't that big a difference att his point in their career, but I do think Walker can put up pts in bunches moreso than scal can.. I dont see Scal putting up 20pts very often but walker will do that from time to time.

We have one spot left and don't need another power forward. Unless suddenly we find another home for Scal, I don't see us bringing Walker back. We need a center and that one spot left will be for a center if one becomes available.

MY whole thing is this team doesn't have a true 6th man right now and I wish they did. Walker is the type of player that could be that. There are some others that could as well. The question is do we really want to go the 6th man route, or do we want more a bench that is just solid and is just filled with fillins. I see House, TA, Posey, Scal, Pollard with Powe and Big Baby mixed in there and we have a solid bench but we don't really have that one guy i would say is a 6th man. I'm not saying WAlker is that but we need another big man, utility type of guy, sparkplug, and Walker is one guy who could fill that roll vs getting another player who is better and putting him on the bench. I dont know who we would be able to get.
IMO the perfect kind of player would be Rasheed Wallace to stick on our bench if everything was right but there is no way that would ever happen. How can we get RAsheed Wallace? We can't. I'm just trying to think of other players that would fit. He doesn't have to be an attitude guy like Walker or Rasheed either. Just someone who can fill it up on occasion and do a lot of different things. Right now it's basically a combination of Pollard, Scal, Powe and Big Baby who are doing htat for us. We do need to add another big man to the mix though. If we could mold Pollard, Scal, Powe and Big Baby into some Conan Obrien type if they mated creation that would be the kind of player I'm looking for. BAtista might have worked out at least how I envisioned him, but he wasn't ready apparently.
big men come out of the woodwork sometimes and I wish we could find someone who's big and will make an impact off the bench moreso then the guys we currently have. We should be alright and we have a good mix of workman type guys and Davis in particular has potential but we need someone else.
IMO what we should do is try to package like TA and Scal for someone like Troy Murphy. I'm just throwing names out there. I'm not saying he is it either. Just someone along those lines.
