 at  Boston Celtics at New Jersey Nets (2-1) Tuesday, October 23 7:30 PM TV: Comcast SportsNet, YES, League Pass (DTV Ch 751) Continental Airlines Arena, East Rutherford New Jersey  Again, picking the starting lineups for these teams at the end of the preseason is going to be hard since the coaches are experimenting with lineups and resting starters and so it is very unpredictable.  Centers:   Perkins, Pollard Forwards         Garnett, Pierce, Powe, Scal, Wallace, Davis, Posey Guards        R Allen, T Allen, House, Jones, Manuel, Rondo, Pruitt   Centers     Kristic, Collins, Ilic, Magloire, S Williams Forwards      Boone, Allen, Nachbar, Jefferson, Jones Guards          Carter,Wright,Robinson,MWilliams, Kidd, Hite, Armstrong,Cleaves Game Notes: The Nets didn't even bring their starters with them on the trip to Worcester to play the Celtics. This would be a good time to rest our starters although this is the next to final game and Doc may want to play them a quarter or so just to fine tune the lineups. If the starters for both teams play, we should see a good game that will show us how far we have come and how far we need to go to win the division. With the preseason winding down, though it is hard to tell who will play and how much as coaches may want to see more of certain players who are on the bubble. . With Pierce, KG and RA all playing close to 40 minutes last night I doubt we see any of them at all in this game. |

UGH they did it to me again. They blacked out the Celtics feed on CSN and I have to watch the Nets feed on League Pass. I hate having to miss Mike and Tommy and having to listen to the other team's announcers.

Posey Powe Scal Rondo and Tony are starting for the Celtics. Pierce, Allen and Garnett are in suits. Nets win the tip. Kristic misses a jumper and Powe rebounds. Rondo takes it down the lane and has it blocked. Scal knocks it away from Collins. Jefferson with a steal. Nets turn it over on a bad pass. Game is a bit sloppy right now. Carter with a steal. Kristic misses a layup and Powe rebounds. Tony misses a 2 and Kristic rebounds. Carter misses a 3 and Rondo gets the long rebound. Carter with a deflection and he takes it in for a layup and is fouled by Powe. Carter completes the 3 point play. Tony takes it to the hoop and is blocked by Carter. Nets turn it over. Posey hits a 3 from the wing. Kristic hits a little hook shot in the lane. Rondo misses a jumper and Powe called for his second foul on the rebound. Gill misses and Posey rebounds on the weak side. Scal hits a 3 from the corner. Jefferson hits a long 3 from the top of the arc. Carter called for a foul. Carter with a steal. Jefferson takes it hard to the hoop and lays it in. Tony with an air ball and Nets rebound. Kristic lays it in. Time out with Nets up 12-6 and 6:26 left in the first

Celtics inbound on the side. Powe is fouled as he goes up for a put back of Tony's miss. Powe misses both FTs. Nets rebound. Kristic shoots an airball and Scal is there for the rebound. Powe loses the ball inside and Nets come back. Gill steps back and hits a 3 from the top of the arc. Gill breaks up Scal's pass and Celtics will inbound with 5 on the SC. Scal misses a 3 at the SC and Nets rebound. Collins misses a baseline jumper and Posey rebounds. Scal hits a jumper. Powe called for his 3rd foul. House comes in along with Davis. Jefferson called for an offensive foul as he makes a move to the hoop. Davis takes the charge. Tony gets to the hoop along the baseline for a tomahawk dunk (nice to see). Boone with a layup. Scal with a fake and pass inside to Davis who lays it in and draws the foul. He hits the FT Jefferson hits a jumper. Posey kicks it out to House who hits a jumper off the catch. Time out with Nets up 19-15 and 2:38 left in the first. Not too bad considering we are playing our bench against their starters.

Nets inbound and Carter gets an easy jumper. Scal fakes and then misses a jumper. Magloire called for a foul over the back on the rebound. Celtics inbound on the side. Big Baby misses a little hook shot with the left hand. Boone called for an offensive foul. Tony Allen misses a 3. Nets rebound. Boone gets inside for a 2 handed dunk. Tony brings the ball up and then passes inside to Davis who is fouled as he brings it up for the shot. He hits both FTs. Nets turn the ball over on a bad pass. Tony takes it down the lane into a crowd and draws the foul on Magloire. He hits both FTs. Celtics with some pressure in the back court. Wright puts one in off the glass. House misses a jumper. Scal tips it but Nets come away with it. Tony with a steal but his shot at the buzzer is way short. Score at the end of 1 is New Jersey 25 and Celtics 19.

These announcers are so bad. They were talking about Big Baby and the one guy said he likes to call him Big Boy and then they discussed how you can't just change his name. And the one guy said that Perk was called Baby Shaq in high school and Davis's nickname was a play on that at LSU... That is so far off. Big Baby was on CSN and said that when he played peewee ball he was a lot younger than the other kids but he was so big they had him playing with the older kids. He was always whiining and so they started calling him Big Baby.
Celtics inbound to start the second. Big Baby gets the ball inside and lays it in. Foul called on Davis. Nets inbound on the side. Tony with a steal from Magloire as he heads to the rim. Tony takes it hard to the hoop and has his shot blocked but he is fouled by Magloire. Tony hits both FTs. They are discussing Ray Allen going over a menu on the bench. Scal knocks the ball away and the Celtics come away with it. Davis called for an offensive foul as he goes to the hoop. Carter misses a fade away jumper. House chases it down but can't save it and Nets will inbound. Nachbar misses and Davis rebounds. Tony splits the defenders and drops it off to Davis for an uncontested layup. Williams misses and Tony rebounds. Jones is in for the first time. House's shot rims out and Magloire rebounds. Carter with a lob to Wright who dunks it. Jones hits a jumper off the catch. Wright hits a jumper from the corner. Celtics lose the ball out of bounds. Time out with Nets up 30-27 and 8:07 left in the half

Nets inbound on the baseline and bring it up against pressure from the Celtics. Williams gets a hook shot in the lane. Jones misses a short jumper on the baseline. Davies grabs the rebound and his layup was blocked and there was a scramble for the ball. Williams called for a foul. Celtics inbound. House with a bad pass, too high for Davis to handle. Nets inbound and bring it up. Gill misses at the SC and Boone gets the rebound. Boone gets the ball inside and lays it in. Jones called for a carry. Celtics backing off of the pressure in the back court. Jones called for a foul. Rondo comes in for Jones. Nets inbound with 14 on the SC. Wright has it blocked by Davis and the Celtics come away with it. Tony is fouled hard inside and goes down but gets right back up. Time out with 5:57 left in the half and Nets up 34-27

Allen has it blocked and Nets come away with it. Nachbar is fouled by Posey and goes to the line. He hits both FTs. Scal is in for House. Scal hits a jumper along the baseline. Celtics called for a foul and Jefferson goes to the line. He hits both FTs. Rondo Tony Posey Scal and Davis on the floor. Tony misses a jumper and Davis rebounds and is fouled by Collins. He hits both FTs. Nets throw it away. Posey takes it hard to the basket and is fouled. He hits both FTs DAvis takes a charge and Jefferson is called for the offensive foul. Tony hits a 3 from the corner to tie the game at 38. Carter misses and Rondo rebounds. Rondo called for a travel. jefferson misses from the FT line. Tony called for a foul on the rebound. Time out with 2:58 left in the half and game is tied at 38.

Tony takes it to the hoop and Collins called for a blocking foul. Tony misses the first FT and hits the second. Nets easily pass out of the pressure in the back court. Gill misses a floater and Scal rebounds. Gill breaks up a pass but it goes out of bounds off nets. Posey misses a 3 from the corner and Rondo skies for the rebound and put back. Kristic hits a long jumper. Rondo is fouled. He misses both FTs. Davis rebounds. Scal hits a jumper from the corner. Nets miss a jumper from the corner. Rondo hustles for the rebound but can't get to it. Nets retain possession. Carter misses a jumper and Celtics rebound. Rondo misses a runner in the lane and Nets rebound. Jefferson misses a jumper at the buzzer. Score at the half is Boston 43 and Nets 41.

Seems like Baby is doing what he should be doing--using his body and energy to create havoc in the paint. He's getting his fair share of points (from trips to the foul line) and grabbing both offensive and defensive boards.
I'd like to see Pruitt come in soon.

Jefferson's 4th foul. Rondo misses a runner in the lane Collins rebounds. Carter hits a 3. Posey is tripped by Jefferson and Jefferson is called for his 5th foul. Celtics inbound on the side with 14 on the SC. Carter with a steal. Carter is fouled by Rondo from behind as he goes up for a layup. Carter hits both FTs. Scal misses a long 3 from the top of the arc and Nets rebound. Gill misses from the corner and Kristic grabs the rebound. Someone's drink is dropped out on the floor and they are wiping it up. The announcers are joking about having to stop the game because of the wet spot on the floor from the drink. PP RA and KG seem to be discussing something on the bench. Nets inbound on the side. Kristic misses a jumper and Celtics rebound. Gill called for a foul. Rondo hits both FTs. Nachbar hits a 3. Allen goes baseline and spins into the lane and his floater is no good. Nets rebound. Davis gets the ball inside and lays it in. Carter misses a 3. Jefferson and Posey battle for the rebound and it goes out off Posey. Time out with Nets up 57-51 and 2:43 left in the 3rd

Jefferson fouls out and Davis goes to the line. He hits both FTs. Wright misses a jumper and House rebounds. House misses a jumper and Nets rebound. CArter takes it down the lane and misses a runner. Celtics rebound. Nets get it back. Magloire misses in the lane and Scal rebounds. Rondo loses the handle and Nets get it back. Scal and Tony with some pressure on Carter who is bringing the ball up. Wright hits a 3 from the corner. Rondo front rims a jumper at the buzzer. Score at the end of 3 is Nets 60 and Celtics 53.
