For anyone who watched the C's vs. Knicks game, please fill me in here. As I look at the box scores, I'm first impressed by the 40 pt win. But then I look at the Knick's stat line and see that no Knick player scored in double digits (Starbury and Randolph were the high scorers with 9 apiece on a combined 7 for 22 shooting).
As a team, they shot a miserable 26% from the field, and 15% from beyond the arc.
Now, is this poor offensive outcome the result of an improved defensive unit (under Thibodeau's system)? or were the Knicks simply missing a ton of open looks?
If this is the result of an improved defense, all I have to say is WOW!!! There's really nothing to stop us now if that's the case. We can have a dominant offense and a formidable defense.
On a side note, I think our rebounding needs to be monitored. So far in 3 games, we aren't rebounding the ball all that well. To the Knicks, we gave up a whopping 15 offensive boards.

It was a little of both. The Knicks were missing wide open shots but then again, they were rushing some shots because of the Celtics defense, which is much improved over last year.

Yeah it was both. Any time a team shoots 26% its both. The knicks had no movement out there and were just standing around. Lee was really the only guy doing anything on putbacks where we got kind of lazy at times. I do think our defense has improved each game though. And the box scores show that.

I do think we are rotating down and trusting each other defensively. You can tell we have experienced players out there. The one thing we have to be careful about is Perk and Rondo are too aggressive at times. It's fine to want to make plays defensively but I still think they are overdoing it. They need to stop getting into foul trouble. Because they are trying to do too much on the defensive end.

Thibodeau has a proven track record, and I guess once the players become familiar with it, and it becomes second nature to them, we will start to see more blowout games like this.
