Yes, I think he would take a pay cut to be back in Boston. Yeah, but not that big of a pay cut. He'd go from making 11-13 million a year with another team to making 5-6 mill a year to play with us (M.L.E.). heck, I'd be mad at Al for turning away that much money. Dude could do a lot of good for his family and community with that kind of scratch. Where is McHale to sign him to a secret contract?

So far this preseason, Jefferson has been a beast. Aside from his very first preseason game against us, he's been a double double guy every night.
vs. BOS: 5 pt, 6 reb vs. MEM: 17 pt, 15 reb ATL: 20 pt, 15 reb vs. IND: 18 pt, 12 reb vs. MIL: 21 pt, 13 reb
That's an average of 16.2 ppg and 12.2 rpg.

Hey, hey, hey, the Wolves have until midnight tonight to sign Jefferson, or else he becomes a free agent after this season.
This may not lead to Big Al's return to Beantown, but it gives me another glimmer of hope.
""To be honest with you, it's not something I go home and think about every day," said Jefferson, 22. "I haven't been thinking about it. When my agent calls, we talk about it. I don't call him. He calls me. That's not my No. 1 focus. My No. 1 focus is Friday.""
I just don't think Big Al is about the money. I don't honestly feel that he's holding out because of the money. I think he doesn't want to stay in Minnesota, and so will be out of there next season.
Come home, Big Al!!!

Rats. Yahoo Sports announced that both sides have reached a multi year agreement.
Oh well.

One thing I'm optimistically looking at is he only signed for 13 million. He could have waited till next year when he's a free agent and commanded more than what he got now. So if we make a trade for him later, it won't cost as much.
I bet that's what Al was thinking about ;D

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Al Jefferson could have waited until next summer to sign a contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In fact, that was what his agent advised him to do, hoping that a big season and his status as a restricted free agent would have brought the 22-year-old power forward the highest contract allowable under league rules.
Jefferson ignored that advice and signed a five-year, $65 million deal just before the deadline Wednesday night. In the era of "Show me the money!" and "bling bling," Jefferson's reason was stunningly humble.
Well derren, you can forget about al coming back. There was no way he was coming back to the Celtics, and besids we don't need him now, he would be coming off the bench for us, and i do not think he would have excepted that.
It is time to let him go.

I hear you Derren. It would have been great to watch guys like Rondo and Jefferson grow together with Pierce. It's hard not to enjoy what we have now though.... KG is so ridiculously good. But that is the one drawback. Maybe we can trade Garnett back to the wolves to retire there, once his glory days are over here for Jefferson. Not happening but you never know. Maybe Mchale has been stationed in Minny as a Celtic operative and he's just working for us. We sent Jefferson to the d-league for a few years to refine his game before we get him back. I don't think there is a chance this will happen but there's nothing wrong with hoping. Anything is possible. I've seen stranger things happen. Even if we get Garnett for 5 years and until he's 36 and he retires here, Jefferson's contract will be soon to be expiring and a lot of things change in 5 years. You never know what the situation is going to be. Jefferson may be sick of Minny like GArnett was and want to come back for all we know.

I wouldn't want to see Garnett traded back to Minnesota -- especially if he wins a championship. If he helps bring a title, then IMO he will have earned the right to retire a Celtic.
My dream is once Garnett retires and his salary is off our cap, we then sign Jefferson as a free agent.

I love Al and think he would welcome coming back to Boston once he is a free agent and that will be right around the time KG retires.

What was it Bird had said to Walton when he retired, If you're not a Celtic you can't ever know what it's like to be truly great. I may have butchered it but it was something to that effect. I think that is exactly what Danny is trying to do, make the Celtics prestigious once again, not just in name but in the product they put on the floor. --Fin

Big Al had another good night stat wise, finishing with 24 pts and 15 boards. On the year, he's averaging better than 20+ and 12.
But he's not playing with enthusiasm. I watched parts of this game (strictly to watch Al, and our other former C's), and though he's putting up excellent numbers, he's really not motivated to dominate.
I really think it was a huge blow to him that he was traded from Boston. From the very beginning, Al fell in love with Boston, and seemed to want to give his heart to the team and to the organization. He really felt at home here.
Hopefully, this feeling will last for the next 5 years, and when he becomes a free agent, he can finally come home to us. By then, he'll only be 26 and in the prime of his career.

Do any of you ever look at the box scores of Minnesota and see what Al is doing out there and feel tremendously guilty? It almost makes me want to crawl under a rock and then I realize he's making millions of dollars and it suddenly doesn't bother me even a little bit at all.

I watched the 1st half of their game, but switched to watch our game.
I have a thread on Q's board keeping tabs on him.
I wish we could have him back.
