--Allen will be spending a good deal of time at point guard on offense
--That’s probably pretty much what we think we’ll do,” Rivers said. “Tony will run the point off the bench. When him and Eddie are on the floor, he may have the ball more than Eddie. Tony will guard the 2, but the point will still guard Eddie, so that means the point won’t be guarding Tony and pressuring him.”
If TAllen has tightened up his dribbling, I don't have a problem with him running the backup Point duties. He's not a Steve Nash-Jason Kidd type PG, but he's a slasher who has the court vision to fire passes to open guys.
And of course, in our offense, the big men in the high post will get the ball a lot, so its not imperative for our PG's to act like your traditional PGs.

I dont mind TA at the point but i honestly think he is better as an off guard, sf. he's versatile in that he can play there though and if he's playing more off the ball as a pg that could work if the ball is going through allen, pierce, etc.. the problem when rondo is out we dont really have someone who can really lead the break.

I had nightmares of TA trying to be a pg last year and him hanging onto the ball way too much. Once he started playing more off the ball he was fine.

He was a nightmare, period!! at the start of the season. He was losing control of the ball, and running over people 13 times a game. But then the rust was dusted off and he got his rhythm back, and then he was an incredible player. At the time he injured his knee, he was doing a lot of the ball handling, and was doing a marvelous job. When TAllen is playing to his potential, he is an outstanding player, definitely capable of playing some Point. Maybe not so much creating offense strictly for his teammates, but just creating offense by attacking the basket and letting plays form from that.
