In 2 or 3 years, would you be interested in trading a 34 year old Kevin Garnett for a 28 year old Amare Stoudemire?

KG and something for Amare and their Hawks pick now.

I would be interested but Phoenix wouldn't be, they don't give him to Minnesota right now, than what makes you think they give him when Kevin is finished

One reason Phx didnt do it was because they wanted Minnesota to take back Marcus Banks and they also wanted the PHX #5 pick. If somehow we could swing Allen and KG for Banks (lol) Marion and Amare Id do it, but I dont see it happening.

I guess i'm in the minority on this one. KG is the better overall player now, by far, IMO. I like Amare alot, he is a freak of nature, like KG, but he has injury issue's, and I don't see the basketball IQ. KG has been virtually injury free, and IMO, has top five BB IQ in the league. I think BB IQ + great conditioning, will keep you in the NBA for a long time, and in many cases these players become better over all players. . Examples: Miller Time, The Mailman, Stockton, and our very own BirdMan. I have no doubt Larry Bird was becoming a better over all player every year, if it wasn't for the back Bird, because of his BB IQ had five more years left in him, making him 40-41 (correct me if i'm wrong) I don't think anyone will argue with me on that one. I'm sorry but I just think that even at age 34, KG will be the better player.

Here's the reason for bringing this topic up. In 2 years, KG should still be playing at a high level, and most teams on the cusp of being champions will want to get a hold of him. As good as Phoenix is, I don't think they are stronger than San Antonio or Dallas. In 2 years, as the window of opportunity gets smaller for Steve Nash, PHO may feel desperate to make a big splash to win a title with him, and certainly KG is an upgrade over Amare Stoudemire. In 2 years, we may already be champions, or very close to being champions (as long as Ainge continues to add better talent to the team). If we aren't champions by that time, we'll only have a very small window to win it all, and by that time KG will be 35. KG may be in great conditioning, but he isn't going to play forever, and with every player who has every played the game, time eventually catches up with them and forces them to retire. Stoudemire isn't at KG level, but he is among the best in the NBA, and if we trade for him in 2 years, he'll only be 27 and still in the prime of his career. He's a 25 and 10 guy in the East (probably more) and he's a difficult matchup because of his combination of power/strength and athleticism/explosiveness. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcbdYFOwNOk We definitely have a better shot at the title with KG on the team, but in 2 years, its time we start to look beyond the horizon.

That would be a toughie, but I dont think I would. Amare is great, but he isnt on the same level with KG. And Amare's knee would scare the heck out of me. KG, IMO, is one of those players that you do not trade. He's that good.

So do we hold onto KG until his contract runs out, and be left with nothing when he retires?

So do we hold onto KG until his contract runs out, and be left with nothing when he retires? i'd def. hold on to KG for the length of his contract. He should be during those years. I'll def. take 5 years of KG over ten years of Amare any day of the week. Amare will never been the player or the leader that KG is. And thanks to Amare's knee injury, KG could end up being a premier player longer than Amare. Plus, some of the comments that came out about Amare after their play-off ouster this year are somewhat troubling. I cannot wait until everyone in Celtics nation gets to start watching KG on a daily basis. The idea of trading him for Amare Stoudamire will seem silly. The only place an Amare for KG trade would make any sense is NBA Live.

I just hope the Celtic's can sign KG to a three year extension, before his contract runs out, because If he wants, I think KG could play another 7-8 years, and I want him to retire a Celtic. I my be drunk on all the koolaid I've been drinking, but, I also cannot wait for Celtic's nation to see KG on a daily basis, it will be like when Bird was here, the Fans will never want to let him go. I really don't think we have had a player close to The BIRDMAN (forgive me Paul) until now, and we fan's, have waited for a dominate low post player for even longer, I for one, don't want to think about letting him go. Amare is real good, but KG is special. IMO, after the Celtic's and Sun's meet up a few times, no one in Celtic nation will be talking about trading KG for Amare. I wish the season started in August.

I would cross that bridge when I come to it. It would depend on our prospects, health, and money.
And Derren there is nothing wrong with letting huge contracts expire without anything in return. Maybe I'd trade with a team willing to take on salary for chips but I was ready to let Ratliff's contract expire so we could actually resign guys like Al J.

Boston would be interested. Not too sure if Pheonix would especially Steve Nash don't have much left in the tank in the next 2-3 years. After Nash is gone, Amare will take over as the face of the franchise.
Scary part, Amare will be 26 in two years. He has alot of B-ball in him even after KG has retired from the game.

Phoenix' window is closing quickly. Their owner is too damn cheap to pay the luxery tax. They have given us Rondo already and gave away Kurt Thomas and a draft pick to Seattle for financial savings. Once Nash hangs 'em up, they are screwed and might take a Pierce and a pick for Amare.

maybe Ray-Ray and a pick for Amare, I never gave up Pierce he is made for our team and he must retire a Celtic after 20 year career, I will never give Pierce for nobody KG, Duncan Amare, LeBron, Wade, Carmelo or nobody else
