Kendrick Perkins needs to be a key role player for us to be a contender. FLCeltsFan12 has done a tremendous job of putting up encouraging articles about big #43, and I'm looking forward to seeing how much he's improved over the summer. He's 10 lbs away from reaching his goal of 260 lbs (having already shed 20 lbs), and this will hopefully give him some explosiveness.
Shira Springer also has a write up on Perkins, and I find this really encouraging:
In addition to making 15-footers, Perkins has practiced "finishing quick." He knows when he receives the ball around the basket from Garnett, Pierce, or Allen, he must make the most of his opportunities and score quickly.
This is something that concerned me about Perk in the past. He isn't a quick finisher like Gomes or Jefferson, and he continually pounds the ball on the ground once before going up for the putback attempt.
Along with rebounding and defense, finishing garbage plays is what we need from Perkins. I'm glad to hear this is something he's working on.

Keep in mind that because of the shoulder surgery and plantar fasciitis last season, Perk didn't get to work with Clifford Ray at all. Look what working with Ray one summer did for Al's game. Perk will have this whole off season to work with Ray and Tom Thibodeau who is credited with Yao Ming's emergence. He is working harder than any player in this league on his game this summer. He is also very willing to learn from KG. Mark my words, Perk is going to surprise a lot of people this season!

Perk will show why he's an adequate starting center.

Instead of could have, should have, time to say he did.

We will find out. I was wondering if Adonal Foyle would find his way over here but he signed up with Orlando. Golden State will be paying him a lot of money while he works elsewhere.

Perk is not going to be a problem.Should have a solid season.Problem is Scott Pollard him being are backup center is the big problem. His production numbers are not much better than Kandi's.And that is a problem.
