With Pierce, Allen and Garnett do you think guys like Perk and Rondo will thrive this year or struggle to find their role? What are peopel expecting from these guys? Rondo and Perk in particular are very key to the C's success this season and I don't think people realize that.

I think in a pickup game I would be a better player with KG, PP, and Ray on my team than random guys. I'd be way more likely to win a ring with them. I'd just do my best to play D. Get lots of assists. Try to hit open shots. I wouldn't have to do a thing. Like a vacation

I think Perk will do better, now that we have added Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. My reason is this: Perk is a solid player, but isn't a good all around talent. His primary talents are shot blocking, and using his body to box out so that he can grab rebounds. I think in years past, Perk was asked to go beyond his limitations, and for that reason, he was exposed some. He doesn't have Jefferson's offensive capabilities, but yet there were times it seems like we gave him the ball and said, "OK Perk, go ahead and do what BIg Al does."
Now that KG and RAllen are here, Perk can concentrate on doing what he does best--block shots and rebound--nothing more, nothing less. And I think Perk will enjoy this because he knows exactly what his tasks are. His entire focus will be to grab as many boards as possible and to help Garnett keep the bad guys from scoring in the paint.
I'm trying to figure out how Rajon's game will be incorporated on the team. Rondo's best attributes are his creativity on the fly and his blazing speed. But if you slow him down and take the ball out of his hands, you are neutralizing his game. Doc's offense takes the ball out of the PG's hands (we don't run many pick and rolls) and what good does that do for Rajon? For a guy like Eddie House, who can spot up for three pointers, playing in Doc's system with 3 big time offensive players is beneficial. But Rondo is not a shooter.
So right now, I'd have to say Perk will benefit more than Rajon.

That's a good article FL. I'm hoping for big things from both these guys this year. I've always liked Perk as a player and this could be his breakout year.

I think it is a given that Perk and Rondo will step up. Question is how much.
I think the bigger questioni is what Davis and Wallace will do. Nothing? Anything?

I think Rondo will show flashes of an all-star. He won't be looking over his shoulder, and will be on the floor. Perks, at best he will be solid role player.

Rondo/Perk/TA will be the ones to make the biggest impact on this team far as I see. I expect Rondo to put good numbers especially he's going to have many opportunities having an open shot. Perk on the other hand, doesn't need to be overly agressive because he doesn't have a weaker defend beside him. His fouling numbers should go down drastically with KG helping out in the paint.

it ain't the regular season that concerns me with perk and rondo beyond staying healthy. It's the playoffs. You saw how the young raps got booted due to inexperience. If those guys don't raise their game to help out the big trio, then we may not get far this year. I think Rondo will improve significantly this year with 3 lethal options to pass too. Doubling him off the dribble leaves one of them open and teams won't be able to do that. He's already one of the 5 fastest gaurds in the league so one guy won't handle him either. Perkins... has got to learn not to foul so much. If he can stay on the court, he can fill the role of rebounder/defender who benefits from being left open and having good passers on the team. A big key is Tony Allen bouncing back to play with confidence on his knee. Knee injuries are funny and can take a while to mentally bounce back. Here's hoping Tony is alright after he gets running up and down the court for a few games.

I really like rondo he was 2nd best rookie pg this year, and quite possbily the best after the allstar break. He is going to have to speak up and be a leader, because you have 3 20+ points per game players he'll have to say tonight YOU get the ball. And if he can do that, he'll be just fine.

I could see Mt Perk as a 12-12-2 (pt/reb/blk) guy and Rondo getting 10-8-4-2 (pt/ast/reb/stl).
