If we can finish in the top 10 in defense (such as opponents points allowed and opp. FG%), we are almost shoe ins for the Finals.
We are shoe ins for the Finals if our bench proves to be solid.

You mean better than top 5? For this to happen, I think both Perkins and Rajon have to really standout. KG is a terrific defensive player, so I'm not concerned about him. But both Pierce and RAllen are average defenders.

KG and PERK are solid defenders. Rondo will be able to pressure the ball full court and hopefully tony allen can comeback and provide more defensive help. Pierce is a better defender than most give him credit for, he's not kobe but he's far from a defensive liability.
Defense is simple to me, it's a mentality. The 4th quarter is where these games are won and lost. You must be able to make stops in the 4th quarter. If we can make teams shoot from the outside especially in the playoffs i like our chances. Again nothing out there impresses me in the east.
For everyone that's so high on the chicago bulls, you saw what happened when they faced a team who challenged their shots. They lost 4-2. You can't win a 7 games series shooting jumpers. No one in the east has a real dominating low post game. I don't count SHAQ anymore, he dominates for certain periods, but he can no longer dominate an entire game.
I just think with the weapons we have on offense, and because of the versatility of these guys were going to be almost impossible to defend.

Right, so we see the need for guys who can knock down shots in the 4th quarter, and I think we have that area covered. And now, we're hoping that our defense improves to the point where we are one of the top defensive teams in the league. Its really good to have good individual defenders, but just as important is the team defense. If all of our guys can be on the same page and view defense as a big priority, we can do some serious damage.

For the people that think we won't be very good at defense I think they are forgetting KG is a waaayyyy better defender than AL J. Powe may be about as good as Gomes. I never thought of Bassy as a great defender. I'm not sure House and Pruit aren't as good as him. Ray Allen is 10,000 times better defender than GG, but then again when you multiply 10,000 by zero or a negative number what do you get? Gerald would have played better defense for us by trying to play offense for the other team. Ratliff can't play too much defense in two games a year so I think Pollard is an upgrade there as well. Plus I don't mind winning with offense as long as we win. Oh silly us. We let them score 101 points. Oh but we scored 113. Oh well. I guess we're just not a good defensive team.

No one said we are going to be a poor defensive team, Eja.

G2, and AJ were defensive liabilities. No more. Garnett is a premier defender, and Ray Allen is an upgrade.

No one said we are going to be a poor defensive team, Eja. Not around here cause this is a knowledgeable board. On other boards people think we won't be able to play great d cause Ray's not great and we don't have a great bench yadda yadda.

Along with the upgrade of KG as a top defender and RA who is an upgrade from Wally, and Pierce who will be revigorated with KG and RA next to him. He has always been capable of playing defense but never put out the effort. Rondo and Tony are superior defenders and Brandon Wallace is capable of guarding the big 3's. On top of that we just signed one of the top defensive coaches in the league in Tom Thibodeau. His defenses are always at the top every year. We should be a very good defensive team if Doc allows TT to take over the defenses.

We'll be fine on defense especially having 3 above average defenders in KG+Perkins+Rondo in our starting lineup. Lets not forget Pierce can be a good defender when he is motivated.
