Hey there, Sprash. Good to hear you got a new job. Welcome back.
GoCeltics, I am embracing the present time. I can't wait for the season to start because we are going to have a lot of fun winning again. These next few years, we should grow into contenders, and it'll get more fun.
Yes, its a risk to make this trade, and for the most part, the risk should translate into big time success--the city of Boston will be relevant again in the basketball world.
But here's where I stagger. I'm a lifetime Celtics fan. I've been a Celtics fan in the past, I'm a fan of the present, and I will continue to be a Celtics fan in the future--and its the future that is gray right now. I can have tunnel vision and just look at the present time, but I'm not seeing the whole picture. I know that right now, we are going to have fun, but I know the day will come when Pierce, KG, and RAllen won't be playing no more, and I just don't know what'll happen after that.
With our young core, I was highly optimistic that we would have had increasing success year after year. I don't know if we could have been future champions, but I felt that each and every year, we would have been in the mix for ECF champions. And I was happy with that, because I think Ainge would have done something to bring in extra help to take us to the promised land.
But now, we have a cloudy future. We have a very bright present time, but I don't know what to expect down the line.
BC, you make an excellent point about Ainge being able to reel in draft prospects, and attract key free agents with the winning team we have right now. I'm praying he will be able to replenish very good young talent again, like he had done the past 4 years. Problem is, we won't have high draft picks because we'll be winning. We won't get mid first rounders like we used to draft Jefferson and Gerald. We'll have to pray that Ainge can get lucky with late round gems like Gomes, or swap picks to grab guys like Rajon Rondo.
But I am very excited about our team. I will enjoy all the success, and look forward to bragging about my Celtics.
