This week,'s guest will be Tim Weisberg, the Celtics writer for "The Southcoast Standard Times."
Besides covering the Celtics, Tim also hosts a radio show on the occult; "Spooky Southcoast. "
You might remember, the last time Tim was on the show, he blacked out central Maine.
We are hoping for nothing so dramatic, but we're sure that he will have much to say about the Garnett trade and the anticipated roster moves.
Here is an excerpt from Tim's column from August 3rd, concerning the roster openings.
" Celtics head coach Doc Rivers told reporters Wednesday night that the team was interested in acquiring the services of 41-year-old Dikembe Mutombo. He's 7-2 and averaged 6.5 rebounds in limited minutes (about 17 per game) last season, his 16th in the NBA. The Celtics would most want him to be a defensive-minded big man on the floor when Kevin Garnett sits, keeping pressure off starting center Kendrick Perkins."
"P.J. Brown is another possibility in the backup center spot, although he might be a bit pricey considering the interest other teams, including the free-spending Dallas Mavericks, have shown."
" Another interesting name popping up is old friend Ryan Gomes. Some outlets have reported the Timberwolves may release him, allowing him to re-sign with Boston, but there's little doubt Kevin McHale knows what a key player Gomes could be for his franchise."
We will certainly discuss the possibility that Gomes could return, with some exclusive research done by Larry Coon and Eric Pincus on that possibility, as governed by the collective bargaining agreement.
In addition to Tim we will feature Mark Piotrowski with a segment on the luxury tax, as the Celtics situation shapes up over the next three years.
Mark has updated his spread sheet through the trade and the latest signings, relating to this all important aspect of building a championship contender.
He did have this to say this morning.
Here's an interesting sneak peek: in year 3 we will be under the Lux Tax -- even if we sign T. Allen to a MLE-like extension!
If you have a question for our guest or the show you can call our toll
free number (1.866.751.9649) anytime leading up to tip off on Sunday
and leave us a voice mail to air live or you can send us an e-mail. As
always we will take your calls live during the show and monitor the
chat wars in The Pit.
We hope you will join us.
Please Note: Jughead is available in the chat room 30 minutes prior to
the start of the show to help make sure you are able to get the stream
playing live on your computer. During that time we jump jump to the
sounds of Miracle Johan's epic old school style.
