Now that Eddie House has been brought on board, our bench is looking decent. We still will need Tony Allen to come back fully healthy, and playing like he was last season in order for us to call our bench decent.
Brian Scalabrine will be a bench guy we use heavily.
If we can sign Mutombo, that will help our bench to be a bit better.
Jackie Manuel is only here for his defense, and its not like he's a big league defender--probably only good for 10 minutes per game.
We do have Big Baby Davis, Leon Powe, and Gabe Pruitt, but most likely, they won't be big factors (not right away, but eventually).
If Ryan Gomes is able to come back, he will help us big time. Our bench will shoot from decent, to solid.
Tony House Gomes Scalabrine Mutombo + Big Baby, Powe, and Pruitt
Now that's a solid bench.

Yes sir. It's going to come down to Mutombo or PJ I think. And we are done if Gomes comes back.

I like Dkiembe slightly over PJ, simply because Mutumbo brings more defense.
With bench players, we don't need fantastic players--just solid guys who can take care of business for 15 minutes per game.

Any rumours on Ainge going after Mutumbo. House brings some fire power off the bench but I don't associate him as a true PG. Don't know too much about Jackie Manuel.

I think Mutombo was one name mentioned in possible big men we go after.
No, Eddie House is not a true PG. I'd think Delonte is more of a PG than House. But if you look at how Doc runs this offense, its not like we are the Suns--we don't have an offense that is run by our PG. House was brought it to shoot the ball--same reason why Ainge held onto Allan Ray for so long. Ainge wants guys who can spread the floor and knock down jumpers. And from what I know of Eddie House, he's a good shooter.
Think of Dana Barros, that's who House reminds me of.

Our bench will never be good with the amount of money we're putting into the Big 3. It's going to be a group of late 1st/2nd rounders + whatever player we sign for the veteran minimum. In fact, don't be surprise if management decides to sell draft picks in order to stay under the luxury tax threshold.

I can't remember in NBA history when someone said "well they have no stars and their starters are averable, but man they have an awesome bench. That's what won them the championship!"

Hey bro. There are unproven rumors Minn may waive Gomes. I'm not sure where that comes from. I'm also not 100% sure how the waiver process would work interms of other teams not claiming him. I think he can't sign with us for 20 days. That tells me if McHale dumps him in 21 days people will scream "shenanigans!" and I wouldn't blame them or care.

The rumors started with Eric Weiss who works for Draft Express. He said that is the word on the street that Minny is going to cut Gomes. It does seem improbable but stranger things have heppened. Minny has 17 players and has to cut 2. WEEI mentioned that there were "cash considerations" included in the deal. That may have been to buy out Gomes, who knows. Only time will tell.

We definitely need stars to win a championship, but we also need a solid bench, too. You aren't going to be playing 3 on 12, no matter how good your 3 are. Jordan couldn't win with just him, Scottie, and Grant alone. He needed BJ, Paxson, and his other supporting cast. Nor could Duncan win with just him, Parker, and Ginobli. He needed his supporting cast as well. I'll tell you this; there's no way we win anything with a bench of Tony, Scalabrine, and House. We'll need better players, including an experienced Powe and Davis.

The only other good player on the Bulls after the big 3 was Kukoc. Harper wsn't great. Longley wasn't. Wennington wasn't. Kerr was good for two 3s. They didn't draft anything good all those years.
San Antonio has Bowen but I Francisco Elson? I'd probably take every bg man we have over him. Horry doesn't do much any more. Finley and Brent Barry are the guys. I don't know if we can get vet bandwagon guys looking for a ring like that. Mutumbo maybe.
