Maybe we'll see an influx of new Celtics fans, now that we're favored to be one of the top teams in the NBA (with a stronger supporting cast, the East is ours). Maybe R-Allen fans and KG fans will become Celtics fans now that their favorite players are in Boston.
But we are the true Celtics fans, who have been with this team during the dark times. We've had to endure the Pitino era, the Gaston era, the Wallace era, the M.L. Carr era, and a 24 win season. We are the true fans who have not turned our backs on our beloved Celtics, even when we may have been tempted to jump ships at one time or another. Believe you and me, it wasn't easy being Green for all these years. The amount of times I've had laughters come my way for telling people I'm a Celtics fan--its enough to make anyone question their loyalty.
And here we stand today, being rewarded for our perserverance. Today, we can stand proudly, saying we have never left the one we love. And as we see more and more people donning the green and white jerseys, we can hold our heads high, knowing that we aren't the bandwagon fans who are here only for the gold--we are here because we bled green for all these years.
Here's to all of you who have been faithful Celtics fans through the lean times. You know who you are. I raise a toast to all of you, my fellow brothers and sisters.

Yeah there are going to be a lot of bandwagoners but that's ok. I was at a store today and I was talking about how the C's got Garnett and the guy actually said to me have the Celtics ever won a championship? He was obviously a Red Sox bandwagoner and just follows them because they are the team to follow right now.

Well said Derren. There are already a lot of new posters on the other boards who came over with KG. I can't imagine not being a Celtics fan because one player was traded. Well, I may have thought about it if they traded Larry Bird back in the day. I do have loyalties to some players. I have been following Ricky in Minny and have watched some Wolves games since he was traded. Now I will definitely still watch the Wolves when I can because I really like Green, Gomes and Al and feel like they were home grown Celtics. I wish we could grow our Celtics and keep them for life like they did way back in the old days but the league has changed and that isn't the way they do it now. But I will still follow those guys and maybe one day they will come back to us. But my first allegiance has been and always will be the Celtics. I haven't seen this kind of excitement about the Celtics since back in the 80s.

Great post DERREN. Of course when you bring a superstar like garnett in you're going to generate a huge buzz and new fans bandwagon or not. I saw it first hand when SHAQ arrived to play for the heat. I knew it was just a matter of time before the organization did something big. Boston isn't a town with a lot of patience, and the celtics were nothing more than a countdown to red sox spring training. I go back to the 80's with the celtics.
I think we alot of younger fans who don't realize the tradition of the celtics. From what i've heard the TD bank North Garden caters to the younger more hip crowd. They don't remember the classic battles between us and the lakers, and that was shown when kobe bryant this season was cheered loudly and basically given a standing ovation, and a hero's welcome in our buliding. That made me sick to my stomach.
Magic johnson would've never received that kind of respect from the garden in the 80's. We respected his game and his greatness, but once he stepped on our floor he was the enemy. Ray allen said it best yesterday. Teams need to feel intimidated when they come to boston. We need to take our home back. The atmosphere in that buliding is going to be electic next season. Every game is going to feel like a playoff game. I'm going to have my green celtic towel waving, and living and dying on every game. Most importantly celtic pride is back!!! We will no longer be looked at as the laughing stock of the NBA. We are an elite franchise and we should looked at as such.

Our fanbase does possess a load of bandwagoners especially talking about baseball and we'll probably see the same with the celtics. I've always been a fan of the celtics since 1990s toward the near the end of the Larry Bird era. No other team in any sport i'm more passion about than this franchise. I can live without the Red sox, somewhat miss the patriots, but i'll die the day I won't be able to watch a celtics game.
It's been a long time for us to see the day we have a contending lineup. I don't know about you guys but the day KG was traded to this team I could not stop smiling. Even now, I already got my KG jersey order and now waiting for tickets to be on sale.
This is the good times my friends, lets enjoy while it last becuz we might not see a trio as good as we have right now.
