I think Gerald is a guy that can help us win ball games though. He is working hard and we need scoring off the bench. Gerald could play a big role in a rotation with Pierce and Allen. I've always though of TA as a defensive stopper to come in in situations anyways. He is coming back from a major injury and is not going to be fit to play a lot of minutes this year imo.
Why trade him when we dont have to? The point is if we plan to win we need guys like Gerald on our bench.... We need a wing scorer and someone who can shoot it off the bench. There are otehr players we can trade before him.

out of 240 Minutes Id try to appropriate my time as follows:
Rondo 30 mins Allen 35 mins Pierce 35 mins Big Al 32 mins Perkins 20 mins
Bench: Green 20 mins Davis 15 mins Gomes 20 mins Pruitt 10 mins
This leaves 23 minutes, which will probably be redistributed to Pierce Allen Rondo Big Al and the Bench.
Allen i left out because of the injury but he will definitely work himself back into the lineup Telfair I left out, but depending on his status he may cut into Pruitt's time
I can definitely see Pierce and Allen probably getting closer to 40 minutes and Big Al a little closer to 35.

Furthermore, Green is a guy you want on the team. He is very marketable, and when Ray's contract finishes up in 3 years Green Rondo and Big Al are gonna be entering the Prime and Pierce will be grizzled vet.
I know some want to compare GG to Kedrick Brown, but I think Green in the next few years will turn into a Jason Richardson type in the next few seasons, and then will hopefully, make the leap to T-Mac status.
As I said above he is a very marketable guy. He won the dunk contest and although that doesn't mean much he is still a guy that is putting people in the "garden". Right now he is the most athletic guy on the team, and given the chance to learn under PP and Ray I believe he can take the next step. I dont think I can think of two current basketball players who can better teach a young wingman how to play the game. The slasher in Pierce who is dangerous from mid range and can hit the three-ball effectively, and the longrange marksman, who is also deadly from midrange and can finish inside if necessary.
Going into 2008-9 a trio or Allen Green Pierce manning the wings could be pretty impressive and exciting.

Thats the point. In a few years he will be a top young SG. Think about it, it 3 years he'll be 23 years old I think. Green will be a player. If we trade him we will regret it.

GG is tantalizingly frustrating. He shows glimpses of his potential, but you have to wonder if/when he's going to consistantly deliever. He's a 3rd year str8 from HS player and a wing man. So this is the year we find out if he's going to be T-Mac or Deshawn Stevenson IMO. I'd hate to give up on him too soon, like the C's did with Joe Johnson. But GG could be a case like Billups who had to find the right fit and coach to show his real potential. Maybe Boston will never work for Gerald and he'll only improve with a change of scenery. I wouldn't trade him away this summer just in case, but if he's still the same inconsistent, occasionaly lost soul on the court that he was last year, it could be time for him to go in 2008

I think those on the pro-green bandwagon just may get their wish after the summer league games so far. I don't think he has been as horrible as everyone says, but he definitely didn' raise his stock at all- which has totally handcuffed AInge. This may be the reason we end up with Joe Smith instead of a trade for Camby or Odom (apparently, this is the new hot rumor)

Looking at GG's performance against the Bucks this is what we're looking at. He still can't buy a bucket, going 3 for 12. He got outrebounded by Pruitt. Pat Carroll, L Allred, and Ray got just as many rebs. He got 1 assist and 2 TOs in 18 mins. 0 blocks. 0 steals. He has regressed, plain and simple. Either that or he's "working on" aspects of his game that he can't do.

If we can get any kind of all-star for GG or even someone just knocking on the door we need to do this asap before teams catch on that he is the next Harold Minor.
I'd trade him for David Lee so fast

One fact to face is that a huge reason Brandon Wallace made the team is that Gerald plays no defense whatsoever. Tony plays tons but Gorman says he's 6ft 3 on tip toes. He can't play much sf plus he's hurt. If Wallace plays about as many minutes as GG it means the GG era is over. He's Banks but taller and skinnier. Of course Banks played defense, so maybe that's unfair to Banks
